හෝමාගම පොලිස් ස්ථානයේ අත්අඩංගුවේ පසුවෙද්දී තරුණයෙකු සැකකටයුතු ලෙස මියයාමේ සිද්ධියට අදාළ විමර්ශන කඩිනම් කර, ඊට සම්බන්ධ සැකකරුවන් වහාම අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන අධිකරණය හමුවට පමුණුවන ලෙස හෝමාගම මහේස්ත්‍රාත් රජින්ද්‍රා ජයසූරිය මෙනෙවිය කොළඹ දකුණ අපරාධ කොට්ඨාසය වෙත නියෝග කළාය.
මෙම මරණය සම්බන්ධයෙන් අපක්ෂපාතී හා විධිමත් පරීක්ෂණයක් සිදුකර, ඊට සෘජුව වගකිවයුතු පුද්ගලයන් වහා අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට නියෝගයක් නිකුත් කරන ලෙස ඉල්ලා මියගිය තරුණයාගේ ඥාතීන් සහ සිවිල් සංවිධාන කිහිපයක් එක්ව ගොනු කර තිබූ විශේෂ මෝසමක් අධිකරණය හමුවේ සලකා බැලූ අවස්ථාවේදී මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරිය මෙම නියෝගය ලබා දුන්නාය.
එමෙන්ම මෙම සිද්ධියට අදාළ විමර්ශන කටයුතු තවදුරටත් පුළුල් කිරීම සඳහා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කර සිටින සැකකරුවන්ගෙන් ප්‍රශ්න කිරීමට හෝ ප්‍රකාශ ලබාගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය වන්නේ නම්, ඒ සඳහා බන්ධනාගාරය වෙත ගොස් කටයුතු කිරීමට ද කොළඹ දකුණ අපරාධ කොට්ඨාසයේ නිලධාරීන්ට මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරිය අවසර ලබා දුන්නාය.
Rapid Investigation Ordered Following Suspicious Death of Youth in Homagama
A troubling incident unfolded at the Homagama Police Station, where a young man was found dead under suspicious circumstances while in custody. In response, Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya directed the Colombo South Criminal Investigations Division to expedite inquiries and promptly detain any suspects connected to the case for court proceedings.
The head of the criminal division at Homagama Police Station has already been taken into custody as part of this investigation. Further actions are underway to present the detained suspect to the court in due course.
Relatives of the deceased, alongside several civil organizations, have collectively urged the judiciary to initiate a thorough and impartial inquiry into the death. They demanded immediate arrests of those directly accountable. This plea led Magistrate Jayasuriya to issue the directive in light of the ongoing deliberations presented before the court.
Moreover, should there be a need to further interrogate or obtain statements from the suspects, the magistrate has granted permission for officials from the Colombo South Criminal Investigations Division to visit the detention facility to conduct these inquiries.
