Minister Denies Allegations of Misconduct Amidst Social Media Rumors

The Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senewiratne, has firmly rejected claims circulating on social media that suggest he has violated the Intangible Cultural Heritage Act. In a statement, he emphasized that these rumors are entirely baseless and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

His Media Secretary, Gunaratne Vikramathilaka, formally communicated these details in a report submitted to the Director General of Government News. According to the Ministry, the false information appears to be a deliberate attempt to damage the minister's standing, originating from a person identified as "Nilantha Saththar Gamage," who is rapidly disseminating this misinformation through multiple Facebook accounts.

The ministry has provided evidence of these misleading campaigns, including links to the relevant Facebook accounts and screenshots of the posts, to the Director General of Government News. The correspondence also highlighted that legal action will be rigorously pursued against those responsible for spreading such deceptive information.

Additionally, the minister's Media Secretary underlined the urgency for responsible institutions to intervene swiftly to prevent the further spread of these fabricated stories across social media platforms.
