Inquiry Launched into Plot to Assassinate Political Leaders and Police Officials with Links to Drug Traffickers

An extensive investigation has been initiated regarding a conspiracy involving organized drug traffickers aimed at assassinating prominent political figures and police officials in Sri Lanka. This revelation was shared by the Terrorism Investigation Division at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court yesterday, where details of the suspects have also emerged.

During the proceedings, officers from the division disclosed to Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva that intelligence reports indicated an organized group is preparing to execute this assassination plot in collaboration with drug traffickers. The group's intent appears to be creating instability and undermining state security.

Initial inquiries have reportedly unveiled the identities of individuals directly linked to the conspiracy, providing a clearer picture of those involved in this alarming scheme, the investigators informed the court.
