කොත්මලේ ප්‍රදේශයට (26) දින ඇදහැලුණු අධික වර්ෂාව හේතුවෙන් කොත්මලේ ගැරඩිඇල්ලේ ජලය නුවරඑළිය ගම්පොළ ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගය හරහා ගලා යැම හේතුවෙන් එම මාර්ගයේ ගමනා ගමන කටයුතු පැයකට ආසන්න කාලයක් ඇනහිට තිබූ බව කොත්මලේ පොලිසිය පැවසීය.
අධික වර්ෂාවත් සමග ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගය හරහා විශාල ජල ධාරිතාවක් ගලා යෑම හේතුවෙන් එම මාර්ගය හරහා ගමන් ගත් වාහන තම පොලිසියේ නිළධාරින් ලවා ජලය බැස යන තෙක් නතර කල බවත්, ඒ තුලින් එම මාර්ගයේ දැඩි රථවාහන තදබදයක් පැවති බවයි පොලිස් ස්ථානාධිපතිවරයා කියා සිටියේ.
ජලය බැස යෑමෙන් පසු වාහන ගමනා ගමනය සදහා මාර්ගය විවෘත කල බවත්, අධික වැසි පවතින වේලාවන්වල එම මාර්ගයට මෙසේ ජලය ගලා ඒමටත් ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගයට පස්කදු සහ ගස් කඩා වැටීමේ අවධානමක් පවතින නිසා එම මාර්ගයේ රථවාහන ධාවනයේදි සැලකිලිමත්ව රිය ධාවනය කරන ලෙස කොත්මලේ පොලිසිය රියදුරන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.
Heavy Rain Causes Disruptions on Kotmale Main Road
Unprecedented rainfall on October 26 led to significant disruptions in the Kotmale area, as water from the Geradigalla flowed over the main road to Nuwara Eliya. According to local police, vehicular movement on this crucial route was halted for nearly an hour due to the water overflow.
The heavy downpour created substantial water levels along the main road, prompting police officials to temporarily stop vehicles until the water receded. This situation resulted in severe traffic congestion as drivers were forced to wait, noted the Officer in Charge.
Once the water levels subsided, the road was reopened for vehicle passage. However, police cautioned motorists to exercise extreme care when driving on the main road, as the ongoing heavy rainfall poses a risk of further flooding, landslides, and fallen trees in the area.
