මිහින්තලා මිහිඳු මහා සෑය වෙනුවෙන් තායිලන්තයෙන් පරිත්‍යාගයක් ලෙස ලද රුපියල් කෝටි 11කට අධික වටිනාකමකින් යුත් නව චූඩා මාණික්‍යය සහ කොත් කැරැල්ල ප්‍රදර්ශනය කිරීම සඳහා බලධාරීන් නිසි ආරක්ෂාවක් ලබා නොදීම හේතුවෙන් එය තාවකාලිකව ඉවත් කර ගැනීමට සිදුවූ බවත්, මේ අතර තමන් වහන්සේ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් පිරිසක් කුමන්ත්‍රණයක නිරත වන බවත් මිහින්තලා රජමහා විහාරාධිපති පූජ්‍ය වලවාහැංගුණවැවේ ධම්මරතන හිමියෝ පවසති.
මාධ්‍ය හමුවක් අමතමින් උන්වහන්සේ මේ බව ප්‍රකාශ කළ අතර, එහිදී විහාරස්ථානයේ ආරක්ෂාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් මාධ්‍යවේදියෙකු විමසූ අවස්ථාවේදී අසභ්‍ය වචනයෙන් බැණ වැදුණු බව කියන මහජන ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම්වරයාගේ දුරකථන සංවාදයක හඬපටයක්ද උන්වහන්සේ විසින් මාධ්‍ය වෙත මුදාහරිනු ලැබීය.
වසර එකහමාරක කාලයක් තිස්සේ තායිලන්ත රජය, එරට නියෝජ්‍ය අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරිය සහ තානාපති කාර්යාලය සමඟ එක්ව සිදුකළ සාකච්ඡාවල ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 1,170ක් වැයකර මෙම චූඩා මාණික්‍යය සහ රන් ආලේපිත කොත් කැරැල්ල මිහින්තලාව වෙත රැගෙන ආ බව නාහිමියෝ පැහැදිලි කළහ.
මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා ඇතුළු රජය ලිඛිතව දැනුවත් කළද කිසිදු ප්‍රතිචාරයක් නොලැබුණු බවත්, කන්ද උඩට නැගීමට අපහසු වැඩිහිටි බැතිමතුන් වෙනුවෙන් මිහින්තලා මැද මළුවේ ප්‍රදර්ශනයට තැබූ මෙම පූජනීය වස්තූන් සඳහා පොලිසියෙන් අවම ආරක්ෂාවක් හෝ සලසා නොතිබූ බවත් උන්වහන්සේ චෝදනා කළහ.
කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 27ක් පමණ බරැති මෙම වටිනා චූඩා මාණික්‍යය සහ කොත් කැරැල්ල රැකගැනීමට සන්නද්ධ පොලිස් නිලධාරියෙකුවත් යොදවා නොතිබූ බැවින්, එහි ආරක්ෂාව පතා තමන් වහන්සේ මැදිහත්ව එය ප්‍රදර්ශනයෙන් ඉවත් කර ආරක්ෂිත ස්ථානයක තැන්පත් කළ බව නාහිමියෝ සඳහන් කළහ.
පුරාවිද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පූර්ණ නිර්දේශ, අනුමැතිය සහ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ විදේශගත ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයින්ගේ සහ දෙස් විදෙස් බැතිමතුන්ගේ රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 3,000ක (කෝටි 30ක) ආධාර මත මිහිඳු සෑයේ ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ සිදුවන බව පැවසූ උන්වහන්සේ, බුද්ධශාසන සහ විදේශ කටයුතු අමාත්‍යාංශවල ඇතැම් නිලධාරීන් මෙම කටයුත්ත නීතිවිරෝධී එකක් ලෙස හුවා දක්වමින් තමන් වහන්සේ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමේ ක්‍රමවේදයක් සොයමින් සිටින බවටද බරපතළ චෝදනාවක් එල්ල කළහ.
එමෙන්ම, විහාරස්ථානයේ ආරක්ෂාව පිළිබඳව විමසීමට තරුණ මාධ්‍යවේදියෙකු මහජන ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම්වරයා ඇමතූ අවස්ථාවේදී, ලේකම්වරයා ඉතා පහත් හා අසභ්‍ය වචනයෙන් ප්‍රතිචාර දැක්වූ ආකාරය හෙළිදරව් කළ ධම්මරතන හිමියෝ, ජනතා බදු මුදලින් වැටුප් ලබන මෙවැනි රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් දේශපාලන න්‍යායපත්‍රවලට යටත්ව කටයුතු කිරීම දැඩි පිළිකුලෙන් යුතුව හෙළා දකින බව ප්‍රකාශ කළහ.
මෙම අර්බුදය හමුවේ තම ජීවිතයට කිසියම් හෝ හානියක් සිදුවුවහොත් ඊට මහජන ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම්වරයා ඇතුළු වගකිවයුතු පාර්ශ්ව සෘජුවම වගකිව යුතු බව අවධාරණය කළ උන්වහන්සේ, මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් නීතිඥ සංගමය ඇතුළු මෙරට යුක්තිගරුක ජනතාවගේ අවධානය වහා යොමුවිය යුතු බවද වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටියහ.
Security Concerns Lead to Temporary Withdrawal of Valuable Artifacts from Mihintale
The Mihintale Rajamaha Viharaya has temporarily removed a newly acquired ceremonial headdress and a golden rosette, valued at over 11 million Sri Lankan Rupees, due to inadequate security measures. Chief Prelate Venerable Dhamaratana pointed out that there are ongoing conspiracies involving public officials aiming to have him arrested.
During a press conference, the chief prelate disclosed details surrounding the inadequate security at the sacred site. He played an audio recording of a recent phone conversation involving the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security, who responded with inappropriate language when questioned about the safety protocols in place for the artifacts.
As a result of discussions with the Thai government and its representatives over the last 15 months, the ceremonial headdress and the golden rosette were transported to Mihintale after a payment of 1.17 million rupees. However, despite informing President and government officials about the artifacts, no response was received regarding their security.
Furthermore, the chief prelate criticized the police for failing to provide even minimal protection for the artifacts, which were on display at the revered site. Weighing approximately 27 kilograms, the valuable items were taken down for safekeeping after concerns about their security were raised.
He elaborated that under the complete supervision, recommendations, and approvals from the Department of Archaeology, a restoration project for Mihintale is set to receive 3 million rupees in assistance from Sri Lankans abroad and other international donors. However, he expressed suspicions regarding some officials in the Ministries of Buddhist Affairs and Foreign Affairs, suggesting that they are potentially plotting illegal attempts for his arrest.
Bringing attention to the reaction of the Secretary to inquiries about security, the prelate highlighted the disrespectful manner in which he was treated, illustrating a disturbing trend of state officials acting politically rather than serving the public interest. He emphasized the need for immediate awareness from legal associations and the citizenry regarding the gravity of this situation.
Should any harm come to him amid this turmoil, Venerable Dhamaratana warned that those accountable within the Ministry of Public Security would be held responsible. He urged urgent action from both legal bodies and the populace to address the unfolding crisis.
