 පවත්නා අයහපත් කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් රඹුක්කන සහ පේරාදෙණිය දුම්රිය ස්ථාන අතර පිහිටි කඩිගමුව දුම්රිය ස්ථානය ආසන්නයේ නායයෑමක් සක්‍රීය වී දුම්රිය මාර්ගය මතට දිගින් දිගටම පස් සේදී ඒම හේතුවෙන්, රඹුක්කන සහ පේරාදෙණිය / ගම්පොළ අතර සියලුම දුම්රිය ධාවන කටයුතු නැවත දැනුම් දෙන තුරු තාවකාලිකව අත්හිටුවීමට පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් වෙත යොමු කර ඇති විශේෂ නිවේදනයක දැක්වෙන්නේ, මාර්ගයේ පූර්ණ ආරක්ෂිත බව තහවුරු වන තෙක් අද (25) රාත්‍රී 12.00 සිට ඉදිරි දින සඳහා ද මෙම ධාවන කටයුතු අත්හිටුවීම බලපැවැත්වෙන බවයි.

අදාළ දුම්රිය මාර්ගය කඩිනමින් යථා තත්ත්වයට පත් කිරීම සඳහා පසුගිය 24 සහ 25 යන දෙදින තුළ හදිසි ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සිදු කළ ද, ප්‍රදේශයට තවදුරටත් ඇදහැලෙන අධික වර්ෂාව හේතුවෙන් දුම්රිය මාර්ගය දෙසට පස් කඳු කඩා වැටීමේ දැඩි අවදානම තවමත් පහව ගොස් නොමැති බව දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පෙන්වා දෙයි.

කඳුකර දුම්රිය මාර්ගයේ මෙම කොටස නායයෑම් සහ පස් කඳු කඩා වැටීම්වලට නිරන්තරයෙන් ගොදුරු වන සංවේදී කලාපයක් වන අතර, පවතින අයහපත් කාලගුණ තත්ත්වය හමුවේ මගී ආරක්ෂාව උපරිමයෙන් තහවුරු කිරීමේ පූර්ව ආරක්ෂක පියවරක් ලෙස මෙම තීරණය ගෙන ඇත.

Severe Weather Forces Suspension of Train Services Between Rambukkana and Peradeniya

The persistent adverse weather conditions have led to the activation of a landslide alert near the Kadigamuwa railway station, disrupting train operations between Rambukkana and Peradeniya. Consequently, all train services on this route will remain temporarily suspended until further notice.

A special announcement from the Sri Lanka Railways Department indicates that services will be halted from midnight tonight (25th) until the safety of the tracks is fully assured.

Despite urgent repair work undertaken on the 24th and 25th, the ongoing heavy rains pose a continuous risk of further landslides on the railway line. Authorities have emphasized that the conditions have not yet improved enough to guarantee safety for train operations.

This section of the hill country railway line is particularly sensitive to landslides, making it essential to prioritize passenger safety amid such severe weather. The decision to suspend services has been taken as a preemptive measure.

For passengers who had booked tickets for trains scheduled during this suspension period, arrangements have been made for a full refund at any railway station. The department expresses deep regret over the inconveniences caused to the traveling public due to this sudden and necessary service cancellation.
