Venerable Kassapa Thera Addresses Health Concerns Amid Ongoing Protest

During an ongoing continuous truth stance at the Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, Venerable Balangoda Kassapa Thera disclosed that his recent stay at a city hotel stemmed from a health condition. He revealed this information while speaking to media representatives this afternoon.

Clarifying recent social media posts and photographs suggesting his presence in a top-tier hotel complex in Colombo, he explained that he had been experiencing a high fever ranging between 102 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit while participating in the protest. He expressed gratitude towards devoted supporters who arranged for his medical treatment during a time when he suffered severe body aches and discomfort.

Medical teams attended to him at the protest site, illustrating that the decision to temporarily step away from the demonstrations was made with the strong consensus of his supporters. Kassapa Thera emphasized that their willingness to ensure his health was a priority amidst the ongoing protest.

However, he expressed concerns regarding the breach of privacy, pointing out that the hotel management's release of a guest's personal details and sensitive information to the media constitutes a serious violation of international hotel etiquette. He indicated that he intends to pursue legal action regarding this matter in the future.

The continuous protest initiated by a group, including monks, was aimed at urging the government to release Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, who is currently enduring imprisonment.

Amidst the protests, reports emerged that Kassapa Thera had been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to a sudden illness, prompting discussions on social media regarding his subsequent stay at a luxury hotel in the city.
