සෞදි අරාබියේදී මරණ දණ්ඩනය නියම වී සිටින ශ්‍රී ලාංකික තරුණයකු වන සිවරාසා අනෝජන්ට සෞදි රජුගෙන් සමාව ලබාගැනීමේ අරමුණින් රජයේ නියෝජිතයන් ලෙස පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ජනාධිපති නීතිඥ ෆයිසර් මුස්තාෆා සහ ජාතික ජන බලවේගය නියෝජනය කරන ජනාධිපති නීතිඥ උපුල් කුමාරප්පෙරුම යන මහත්වරුන් නම් කර තිබිණි.
ඔවුන් මූලිකව මාලදිවයින බලා පිටත්ව ගොස් එරට හිටපු ජනාධිපතිගේ සහාය ඉල්ලා සිට අනතුරුව සෞදි අරාබිය වෙත නොගොස් යළි මෙරටට පැමිණ ඇති.
මේ අතර, අනෝජන් බේරාගැනීම සඳහා කොළඹ විපක්ෂ නායක කාර්යාලය වෙත පැමිණි ඔහුගේ දෙමව්පියන් ලබාදුන් දුරකථන ඇමතුමක් ඔස්සේ විපක්ෂ නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මහතා සහ අනෝජන් අතර පැවති සංවාදයක් සමාජ මාධ්‍ය ඔස්සේ ප්‍රචාරය විය.
එම සිදුවීමෙන් අනතුරුව, සිරගතව සිටින අනෝජන්ට සිය දෙමව්පියන් සමඟ හෝ දුරකථනයෙන් කතාබස් කිරීම සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම තහනම් කර ඇති බව පැවසේ.
මෙම අර්බුදය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ඒකාබද්ධ විපක්ෂයේ පැවති සාකච්ඡාවකදී අදහස් දක්වමින් හිටපු ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා පෙන්වා දී ඇත්තේ, මෙම ගැටලුව විසඳා ගැනීම සඳහා රජය නිවැරදි රාජ්‍ය තාන්ත්‍රික ප්‍රවේශයක් භාවිත කළ යුතු බවයි.

එහෙත්, ඉන්දියාව කෙරෙහි දක්වන අනවශ්‍ය බිය හේතුවෙන් වත්මන් රජය පාකිස්තාන අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයා සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට මැලි වන බවටද හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරයා චෝදනා කළේය.

Government Representatives Seek Pardon for Sri Lankan Youth Facing Death Penalty in Saudi Arabia
In a bid to secure a royal pardon for Sivaarasa Anojan, a Sri Lankan youth currently sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia, government officials have been appointed. Notable figures such as Member of Parliament and Attorney-at-Law Faizer Mustapha and President's Counsel Upul Kumara Perera, representing the National People’s Power, have taken on this crucial task.
Initially, they departed for the Maldives to seek the support of a former president. However, they ultimately returned to Sri Lanka without proceeding to Saudi Arabia.
In a related development, Anojan’s parents arrived at the office of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in Colombo, where they shared a phone conversation with their son via social media. This exchange has since captured significant attention online.
Following this incident, reports indicate that Anojan has been entirely barred from communicating with his parents, whether through phone calls or any other means.
In a discussion held by the United Opposition concerning this crisis, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the necessity for the government to adopt a proper statecraft strategy to resolve the issue effectively.
He further noted the importance of leveraging support from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who maintains direct relations with the Saudi monarchy. Wickremesinghe referenced Pakistan's involvement in dialogue aimed at mediating regional conflicts.
However, he criticized the current government for hesitating to engage in discussions with the Pakistani Prime Minister due to an unwarranted fear of India.
Also contributing to the conversation, former Minister Rajitha Senaratne made serious allegations, claiming that an action taken by a representative minister from the Malimah government, lacking a proper understanding of international legal norms, could have escalated Anojan’s prison sentence to a death penalty.
