අධිකරණ නියෝග මත සිය සිරදඬුවමේ ඉතිරි කාලය ගෙවමින් සිටින බොදු බල සේනා සංවිධානයේ මහලේකම් පූජ්‍ය ගලගොඩඅත්තේ ඥානසාර හිමියන් බන්ධනාගාර මුද්‍රණ අංශයේ කම්කරු සේවයට අනුයුක්ත කිරීමට නියමිතව ඇත.
බන්ධනාගාරගත කිරීමේදී සිවුර වෙනුවට දණ්ඩනයට පත් සිරකරුවන් සඳහා නියමිත බන්ධනාගාර ඇඳුම අඳින ලෙස නිලධාරීන් දැනුම් දුන් අවස්ථාවේදී උන්වහන්සේ මුලින් ඊට විරෝධය පළ කළද, පසුව අදාළ නියමිත ඇඳුම ඇඳීමට එකඟ වී ඇත.
අධිකරණයට අපහාස කිරීමේ චෝදනාවට වරදකරු කරමින් පූජ්‍ය ගලගොඩඅත්තේ ඥානසාර හිමියන්ට නියම කර තිබූ වසර හයක සිරදඬුවමෙන් මාස නවයක පමණ කාලයක් ගෙවමින් සිටියදී, 2019 මැයි මාසයේදී එවකට ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් උන්වහන්සේට ජනාධිපති සමාව ලබා දී තිබුණි.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, එම ජනාධිපති සමාව බලරහිත කරමින් ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය පසුගිය සැප්තැම්බර් මාසයේදී තීන්දුවක් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කළේය.
එම ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණ තීන්දුවත් සමඟ උන්වහන්සේට සිය සිරදඬුවමේ ඉතිරි කාලය ගෙවීමට නියම වූ අතර, පසුව උන්වහන්සේ අතුරුදන්ව සිටි බවට වාර්තා වීම හේතුවෙන් අභියාචනාධිකරණය විසින් විවෘත වරෙන්තුවක් නිකුත් කරන ලදී.
ඒ අනුව, අභියාචනාධිකරණය බලධාරීන්ට නියෝග කළේ ඥානසාර හිමියන්ගේ ඉතිරි සිරදඬුවම වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙසයි.
Gaḷagodaatte Gnanasara Thero Sentenced to Serve Remaining Jail Term
In a significant development following a court order, the General Secretary of the Buddhist Power Force, Venerable Gaḷagodaatte Gnanasara Thero, is set to be assigned to labor duties within the prison printing department as he serves out the remainder of his sentence.
Initially expressing resistance to donning the prison attire designated for inmates sentenced to hard labor, he eventually agreed to comply with the officials' directives.
Gnanasara Thero, who was convicted for contempt of court and sentenced to six years in prison, has already completed approximately nine months of his term. He was previously granted a presidential pardon by then-President Maithripala Sirisena in May 2019.
However, that pardon was annulled following a ruling from the Supreme Court last September, which reinstated his sentence.
Consequently, the Supreme Court mandated that he serve the remaining time of his incarceration. Reports of his earlier disappearance led to the Appeals Court issuing an open warrant for his arrest.
In response to these developments, the Appeals Court has instructed authorities to immediately enforce the remainder of Gnanasara Thero's prison sentence.
