හෝමාගම මූලස්ථාන පොලිසියේ අත්අඩංගුවේ පසුවූ 29 හැවිරිදි තරුණයෙකු මියයාමේ සිද්ධියක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් එම පොලිස් ස්ථානයේ අපරාධ විමර්ශන අංශයේ ස්ථානාධිපතිවරයා ඇතුළු පොලිස් කොස්තාපල්වරුන් දෙදෙනෙකුගේ වැඩ තහනම් කිරීමට පොලිස් මූලස්ථානය පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.
සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් කඩිනම් මෙන්ම පූර්ණ ස්වාධීන පරීක්ෂණයක් පවත්වා නීතිය දැඩිව ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙස මහජන ආරක්ෂක හා පාර්ලිමේන්තු කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය ආනන්ද විජේපාල මහතා විසින් පොලිස්පති ප්‍රියන්ත වීරසූරිය මහතා වෙත දන්වා ඇත.
මෙලෙස අවාසනාවන්ත ලෙස ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්ව ඇත්තේ කිරිවත්තුඩුව, මුණමල්වත්ත ප්‍රදේශයේ පදිංචිව සිටි එක්දරු පියෙකු වන ෆ්‍රැන්සිස් දුරගේ ඉෂාර හර්ෂ කුමාර නැමැති 29 හැවිරිදි තරුණයෙකි.
මියගිය තරුණයාගේ ඥාතීන් බරපතළ චෝදනාවක් එල්ල කරමින් ප්‍රකාශ කරන්නේ, තම ඥාතියා පොලිස් නිලධාරීන්ගේ අමානුෂික පහරදීම්වලට ලක්වීම හේතුවෙන් මියගොස් ඇති බවයි.
වාර්තා වන තොරතුරුවලට අනුව, ඉකුත් 25 වනදා අලුයම් කාලයේදී සැකපිට අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් මෙම තරුණයා හෝමාගම පොලිසියේ සිරමැදිරිය තුළ රඳවා තබා තිබේ. එදින උදෑසන ඔහුගේ සුවදුක් බැලීම සඳහා ඥාතීන් පිරිසක් පොලිස් ස්ථානයට ගොස් ඇති අතර, එහිදී අපරාධ විමර්ශන අංශය තුළට රැගෙන ගොස් සිටි තරුණයා පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් සිව්දෙනෙකු විසින් ඔසවාගෙන විත් යළි සිරමැදිරියට දමනු දැකගත හැකි වූ බව ඥාතීහු පවසති. ඒ වන විටත් ඔහු දැඩි ලෙස පහරකෑමට ලක්ව අසාධ්‍ය තත්ත්වයේ පසුවූ බවට ඔවුහු චෝදනා කරති.
අනතුරුව සිරමැදිරිය තුළ ඇදවැටී සිටි තරුණයාගේ තත්ත්වය බරපතළ බව දැක ඥාතීන් කළ දැඩි පෙරැත්ත කිරීම් හමුවේ ඔහු හෝමාගම මූලික රෝහල වෙත ඇතුළත් කිරීමට පොලිසිය පියවර ගෙන තිබුණද, රෝහලට රැගෙන ඒමටත් පෙරම ඔහු මියගොස් සිටි බව ඥාතීන්ගේ අදහස වී තිබේ.
Police Actions Following Death of Detained Youth in Homagama
Controversy surrounds the death of a 29-year-old man, Ishara Harsha Kumar, who passed away while in custody at the Homagama Police Station. In response, the police department has suspended the duties of the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Division and two other constables associated with the case.
Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Anand Wijepala, has directed the Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasuriya, to ensure an immediate and thorough independent investigation into the incident, stressing the importance of enforcing the law rigorously.
The ill-fated youth was a single father living in the Kirivaththuduwa and Munnamalwatta area. Relatives have leveled serious allegations against the police, claiming that he succumbed to inhumane treatment and brutality at the hands of the police officers.
Reports indicate that the young man was detained under suspicious circumstances on the early morning of the 25th. Witnesses allege that when relatives visited the police station later that day to check on his health, they saw him being escorted by four officers into the Criminal Investigations Division, where he appeared to be severely beaten.
As the situation deteriorated, relatives pressed for urgent medical attention. Despite the police’s attempt to transport him to the Homagama Base Hospital, they believe he had already succumbed to his injuries before reaching the facility.
