Colombo High Court Releases Deysi Forrest in Money Laundering Case

In a significant ruling today, the Colombo High Court ordered the release of Deysi Forrest, who faced charges of money laundering involving over 59 million Sri Lankan Rupees. The court's decision came after reviewing a medical recommendation confirming that Forrest was in a suitable mental state to participate in court proceedings.

The request for her release was supported by assessments from a panel of prominent medical experts, which led the presiding judge to conclude that Forrest was competent to engage in legal discussions. Both Forrest and her co-accused, former naval officer Yoshitha Rajapaksa, were present in court during the hearing.

Following the reading of the amended indictments by the Attorney General in an open court session, Yoshitha Rajapaksa acknowledged his responsibility regarding the charges. This acknowledgment underscored the serious nature of the case, drawing substantial attention.

Moving forward, the High Court has scheduled the preliminary trial hearings for December 2, allowing for further developments in this high-profile case.
