මාලිමා සභාපතිට විරෝධය පා ආණ්ඩු පක්‍ෂ විපක්‍ෂ මන්ත්‍රීවරු 14ක් සභාවෙන් ඉවත් වේ..

 නෝර්වුඩ් ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ වත්මන් සභාපති (ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ) ජොහන්නස් ෆ්‍රැන්සිස් ඇලන් මහතාගේ ක්‍රියාකලාපයට විරෝධය පාමින් ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂයේ සහ විපක්ෂයේ මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් 14 දෙනෙකු සභා රැස්වීම වර්ජනය කිරිම හේතුවෙන් සභාපතිවරයා සභාව පවත්වාගෙන යෑමට ඝණ පූර්ණයක් නොමැති වීම හමුවේ මාසික සභා රැස්වීම මේ මස (21) දින දක්වා කල් තබනු ලැබීය.

එම ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ මාසික සභා රැස්වීමට (07) දින පැවැත්වෙන බවට සභාවේ ලේකම්වරයා විසින් එම ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාව නියෝජනය කරන ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂයේ සහ විපක්ෂයේ මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් 20 දෙනෙකුට ලිඛිතව කල දැනුම් දීමක් මත ලංකා කම්කරු කොංග්‍රසයේ එක් ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා මන්ත්‍රීවරයෙකු (07) දින සභා රැස්වීමට නොපැමිණි අතර, සෙසු මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් 19 දෙනාම උදෑසන 10:00ට සභාව වෙත පැමිණ නාමලේඛණය අත්සන් කර සභා රැස්වීම ශාලාවට නොගොස් ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාව ඉදිරිපිට සිට සභාපතිවරයාගේ ක්‍රියාකලාපයට එරෙහිව සිය විරෝධය දක්වනු ලැබූවා.

ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා මන්ත්‍රීවරු 02, සමගි ජන බලවේගයේ එක් මන්ත්‍රීවරියක් සහ ස්වාධීන මන්ත්‍රීවරු 02 පමණක් සභාපතිවරයාට සහයෝගය දක්වන බවත්, ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂයේ සහ විපක්ෂයේ සෙසු ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් විසින් ලබා දෙන යෝජනා කිසිවක් සභාපතිවරයා විසින් ක්‍රීයාත්මක නොකර බවයි එම ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ නාගරික මන්ත්‍රී බන්ධුසිරි රණවීර මහතා කියා සිටියේ.

වත්මන් සභාපතිවරයා ගුරුවරයෙකු නිසා ඔහුව සභාපතිවරයා වශයෙන් තෝරා පත් කර ගත් බවත්, වසරක් වැනි කාලයක් සිය ධූරයේ රැදී සිටින සභාපතිවරයා කිසිදු සංවර්ධණ කටයුත්තක් සිදු නොකල බවයි සභාව වර්ජනය කල ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂයේ සහ විපක්ෂයේ සෙසු මන්ත්‍රිවරුන් කියා සිටියේ.

නෝර්වුඩ් ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ මාසික සභා රැස්වීම වර්ජනය කිරිම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අප නෝර්වුඩ් ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ සභාපති ෆ්‍රැන්සිස් ඇලන් මහතාගෙන් කල විමසුකට ඔහු කියා සිටියේ, සභාවේ ඝණ පූර්ණයක් නොමැති නිසා මාසික සභා රැස්වීම කල් තැබු බවත්, සභා රැස්වීම වර්ජනය කල ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් තමා සම්බන්ධයෙන් නගර චෝදනා පදනම් විරහිත බවයි.

Disruption in Norwood Pradeshiya Sabha Monthly Meeting Amid Protests

The monthly meeting of the Norwood Pradeshiya Sabha has been postponed to the 21st of this month due to a significant absence of members, following protests against the current chairman, Johannes Francis Allen, from members of both the ruling and opposition parties.

According to the secretary of the council, while the meeting was initially scheduled to occur on the 7th, the absence of a quorum led to this decision. Out of the 20 members, only two members from the National People’s Power and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya supported the chairman. Meanwhile, the ruling and opposition party members expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the chairman’s lack of implementation of their proposals, highlighting a growing unrest amidst the council.

On the morning of the planned meeting, 19 members registered their attendance but did not enter the meeting hall, instead choosing to demonstrate against the chairman’s actions outside the premises. This protest followed extensive criticism concerning the lack of developmental activities during the chairman's year-long tenure.

City Councillor Bandusiri Ranawira stated that the chairman has not undertaken any initiatives, which prompted the collective protest from the other members. The chair of the Norwood Pradeshiya Sabha, Francis Allen, in response to inquiries about the disruptions, acknowledged the absence of a full quorum as the reason for postponing the meeting and emphasized that the protests against him lacked substantive grounds.

As tensions rise within the council, the local government dynamics in Norwood may face significant challenges ahead unless a resolution can be achieved.
