බීමතින් රිය පැදවූ උප නගරාධිපති අත්අඩංගුවට..

බීමත්ව රිය පැදවීමේ චෝදනාව මත හම්බන්තොට මහ නගර සභාවේ නියෝජ්‍ය නගරාධිපතිවරයා අම්බලන්තොට පොලිසිය විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන තිබේ. 

අම්බලන්තොට, රොටවල හන්දිය අසලදී සිදුකළ රථවාහන පරීක්ෂාවකදී ඔහු මෙලෙස කොටු වී ඇත.

මාර්ග යතුරුපැදි සංචාරයේ යෙදී සිටි පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් දෙදෙනෙකු විසින් සැකකටයුතු ලෙස ධාවනය වූ කැබ් රථයක් නවත්වා පරීක්ෂා කර තිබේ. 

එහිදී රියදුරු අසුනේ සිටි පුද්ගලයා බීමත්ව සිටින බවට නිරීක්ෂණය වීම නිසා ඔහුව අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන පොලිස් ස්ථානය වෙත රැගෙන ගොස් ඇත. එහිදී සිදුකළ පරීක්ෂණවලදී ඔහු බීමත්ව සිටි බව නිල වශයෙන් තහවුරු වී තිබේ.

පසුව අනාවරණය වී ඇත්තේ අදාළ රියදුරු හම්බන්තොට මහ නගර සභාවේ නියෝජ්‍ය නගරාධිපතිවරයා බවයි. ඔහු හම්බන්තොට මහ නගර සභාවේ පාලන බලය හිමි සමගි ජන සන්ධානය නියෝජනය කරන ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ මන්ත්‍රීවරයෙකි.

අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් නියෝජ්‍ය නගරාධිපතිවරයා පසුව පොලිස් ඇප මත මුදාහැර ඇති අතර, ලබන 09 වැනිදා ඔහු හම්බන්තොට මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණය වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට නියමිත බව පොලිසිය වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය. පවතින රථවාහන නීති රීතිවලට අනුව ඔහුට එරෙහිව ඉදිරි නීතිමය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගැනීමට නියමිතය.

Deputy Mayor of Hambantota Arrested for Drunk Driving

The deputy mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council has been arrested by the Ambalantota police on charges of driving under the influence.

He was apprehended during a vehicle inspection conducted near the Rotawala junction in Ambalantota.

Police officials engaged in a motorcycle patrol stopped and inspected a suspiciously driven cab.

During this inspection, it was observed that the individual in the driver's seat was under the influence of alcohol, leading to his arrest and transportation to the police station. Official tests conducted there confirmed that he was indeed intoxicated.

It has since come to light that the driver is the deputy mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council. He is a member representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, aligned with the governing coalition of the Hambantota Municipal Council.

Following his arrest, the deputy mayor was later released on police bail, with the police further indicating that he is scheduled to be presented before the Hambantota Magistrate's Court on the 9th. Legal action is set to be initiated against him under the existing traffic laws.
