මැදපෙරදිග කලාපයේ පවතින යුදමය වාතාවරණය හේතුවෙන් මෙරටට අවශ්‍ය තාර ආනයනය කිරීමට නොහැකි වීම නිසා මාර්ග සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති රැසක් අතරමග නතර වී ඇති බව මාර්ග සංවර්ධන අධිකාරිය අනාවරණය කරයි.

පාර්ලිමේන්තු මුදල් කාරක සභාව හමුවේ කරුණු දක්වමින් එම අධිකාරියේ නිලධාරීන් මේ බව ප්‍රකාශ කර තිබේ.

පසුගිය පෙබරවාරි මාසයේ සිට මැයි මාසය දක්වා වූ කාලය තුළ මෙරටට ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට හැකි වී ඇත්තේ තාර රැගත් එක් නෞකාවක් පමණක් බවත්, එය ද ලබා ගැනීමට හැකි වූයේ යුද විරාමයක් පැවති දින කිහිපයකදී පමණක් බවත් නිලධාරීහු මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දේශගුණික තත්ත්වයට වඩාත් උචිත වන්නේ ඉරානයෙන් ආනයනය කරනු ලබන තාර වුවද, පවතින අර්බුදය හමුවේ එම ආනයන කටයුතු දැඩි අර්බුදයකට ලක්ව ඇත.

දිවයිනට බලපෑ ආපදා තත්ත්වයන් හේතුවෙන් මාර්ග කොටස් 549කට හානි සිදුව ඇති අතර, ඒවා ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීම ඇතුළු මාර්ග සංවර්ධන කටයුතු සඳහා රුපියල් බිලියන 64.3ක මුදලක් වෙන් කර තිබේ.

එහෙත් පවතින තාර හිඟය හේතුවෙන් එම සංවර්ධන කටයුතු සැලසුම් කළ පරිදි ඉදිරියට ගෙන යාමට නොහැකි වී ඇති බව මාර්ග සංවර්ධන අධිකාරිය වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කරයි.

Road Development Projects Halted Due to War-Like Conditions and Tar Shortage in Sri Lanka

Ongoing military-like conditions in the Middle Eastern region have disrupted the import of essential tar to Sri Lanka, leading to the suspension of numerous road development projects, revealed officials from the Road Development Authority during a parliamentary finance committee meeting.

They noted that only one tar-carrying vessel managed to reach the island between February and May of this year, and that delivery coincided with a brief period of ceasefire.

While Iranian tar is deemed most suitable for Sri Lanka's climate, the current crisis has severely impacted import operations, obstructing necessary supplies.

Furthermore, natural disaster conditions have caused damage to 549 road segments across the country, prompting an allocation of Rs. 64.3 billion for their reconstruction among other development activities.

However, the ongoing shortage of tar has hindered progress on these developmental initiatives as highlighted by the Road Development Authority.
