දිවයින වටා වන මුහුදු ප්‍රදේශ කිහිපයක තද සුළං සහ රළු මුහුදු ස්වභාවයක් පවතින බැවින් ඒ පිළිබඳව දැඩි අවධානයෙන් පසුවන ලෙස කාලගුණවිද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ධීවර සහ නාවික ප්‍රජාවට දැනුම් දෙයි.

එම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ස්වභාවික විපත් පිළිබඳ පූර්ව අනතුරු ඇඟවීමේ මධ්‍යස්ථානය විසින් නිකුත් කරන ලද මෙම ‘ඇම්බර්’ වර්ණයෙන් යුතු අවවාදාත්මක නිවේදනය අනුව හම්බන්තොට සිට පොතුවිල් දක්වා සහ කල්පිටිය සිට මන්නාරම සහ කන්කසන්තුරය හරහා මුලතිව් දක්වා වන වෙරළට ඔබ්බෙන් වූ මුහුදු ප්‍රදේශවල සුළගේ වේගය විටින් විට පැයට කිලෝමීටර් 50-60 දක්වා වැඩි විය හැකි බවත් මේ හේතුවෙන් එම මුහුදු ප්‍රදේශ විටින් විට රළු විය හැකි බව ද සදහන්ය.

එබැවින්, මේ පිළිබඳව අවධානයෙන් කටයුතු කරන ලෙසත්, කාලගුණවිද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් ඉදිරියේදී නිකුත් කරනු ලබන කාලගුණ නිවේදන පිළිබඳව විමසිලිමත් වන ලෙසත් ධීවර සහ නාවික ප්‍රජාවගෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් ඉල්ලා සිටිනු ලැබේ.

Severe Winds and Unruly Sea Conditions Warning Issued for Coastal Areas

The Department of Meteorology has advised the fishing and maritime communities to exercise caution due to strong winds and rough sea conditions reported in several coastal areas around the island.

This warning was issued as an 'Amber' level alert by the Early Warning Centre for Natural Disasters within the department, highlighting that wind speeds in certain sea regions could rise between 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. Areas affected include the coastline from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Kalpitiya to Mannar, extending through Kankesanthurai to Mullaitivu. As a result, these waters may become increasingly turbulent.

The Meteorology Department urges the communities to stay vigilant and to closely monitor future weather advisories as they are released. Enhanced awareness and preparedness are essential to ensure safety during this weather event.
