මීගමුව බන්ධනාගාරයේ පසුගියදා ඇති වූ නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය සම්බන්ධයෙන් එම බන්ධනාගාරයේ ප්රධාන ජේලර්වරයා ලබාදුන් සාක්ෂි කිසිදු මාධ්යයක පළ කිරීම වළක්වමින් මීගමුව මහේස්ත්රාත් ශිලානි පෙරේරා මහත්මිය නියෝගයක් නිකුත් කළාය.
මෙම සාක්ෂි තුළ ජාතික ආරක්ෂාව බරපතළ අවදානමකට ලක් කළ හැකි අතිශය සංවේදී තොරතුරු අඩංගු වන බැවින් විවෘත අධිකරණයේදී මෙම තීරණය ගත් බව මහේස්ත්රාත්වරිය සඳහන් කළාය.
එමෙන්ම අදාළ සාක්ෂි සටහන් අතිශය රහසිගතව සහ ආරක්ෂිතව අධිකරණ භාරයේ තබා ගැනීමටද මෙහිදී නියෝග කෙරිණි.
මීගමුව බන්ධනාගාරයේ ප්රධාන ජේලර් විකුම් ජයන්ත කුමාර මහතා 30 වැනිදා පස්වරු 1.00 සිට 3.00 දක්වා පැය දෙකක කාලයක් මහේස්ත්රාත්වරිය හමුවේ මෙලෙස සාක්ෂි ලබා දී තිබේ.
පසුගිය ජූලි 5 සහ 6 යන දිනවල මීගමුව බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ රඳවා සිටි රැඳවියන්ගේ ප්රචණ්ඩකාරී හැසිරීම් පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා වැලිකඩ බන්ධනාගාරයේ සිට කැඳවනු ලැබූ බන්ධනාගාර පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් 89 දෙනෙකු පිළිබඳ විස්තරාත්මක වාර්තාවක්ද මෙහිදී අධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් විය.
මීට අමතරව, එම සිද්ධියෙන් තුවාල ලබා රෝහල්ගතව ප්රතිකාර ලබන පිරිස සම්බන්ධ වාර්තාවක්ද බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් විසින් එදින අධිකරණය වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කරනු ලැබීය.
Court Orders Secrecy Over Sensitive Evidence from Welikada Jail Incident
In response to the unrest that occurred recently at the Negombo Prison, Magistrate Shilani Perera has issued a directive prohibiting the publication of evidence presented by the chief jailer of the facility. This decision comes amidst concerns that the information shared contains highly sensitive details that could pose a significant threat to national security.
The magistrate emphasized that her ruling aimed to safeguard the integrity of the evidence, which is to be kept confidential and secure under the court's jurisdiction. This measure reflects the seriousness with which the court regards potential risks to public safety and security.
Chief jailer Vikum Jayantha Kumara provided his testimony to the magistrate over a two-hour period on the 30th, discussing the circumstances surrounding the incidents that took place on July 5 and 6, when inmates at the Negombo facility exhibited violent behavior.
Additionally, a detailed report concerning the 89 prison officers summoned from the Welikada Prison to manage the situation at Negombo was submitted to the court. The document sheds light on the measures taken during the chaotic episodes in an effort to restore order.
Furthermore, jail officials presented a report regarding a group of individuals who were hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the upheaval, illustrating the incident's scope and impact.

We must not let people forget the attack on Negombo Prison... Even an LTTE leader had supposedly said that Sri Lankans forget anything within two weeks. This Negombo attack was worse than the Easter attack.
This attack was orchestrated by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and Cyril Gamini, who wear long robes. The two of them allegedly took dollar payments from the LTTE and created a clash between prisoners and the police in order to harm the Sinhalese people. According to this claim, the mastermind behind the attack was the Cardinal, while Cyril Gamini was the secondary planner. There were 100 injured people. Of these, 12 were prison officers. The rest were unarmed prisoners who were injured after running, falling, and being trampled while prison officers and police were shooting. There were prisoners with serious injuries people who had been shot but survived. This attack on the police and prison officers was a deliberate crime. The order for the attack was allegedly given by 'Lap Pach Kota,' who is described here as a terrorist and murderer. The Cardinal is again described as the chief planner, while Cyril Gamini is accused of managing the operation with money from the LTTE diaspora in order to incite Sinhalese people. The text claims that, for several weeks before the attack, 'Lap Pach Kota' had informed a so-called 'Red Army' inside the prison about the planned attack. It further claims that Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and Cyril Gamini are still in hiding, protected by a security detail of 40 PSD officers and concealed in a government safe house.
**The text concludes by alleging that this attack was a carefully planned act of destruction carried out by the government in power together with leaders of the Catholic Church.
