 ඩෙංගු රෝගීන්ගේ වර්ධනයට ප්‍රධානතම හේතුව වෛරස් ප්‍රභේදයේ සිදුව ඇති වෙනස බව කර්මාන්ත හා ව්‍යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය චතුරංග අබේසිංහ මහතා පවසයි.

සාමාන්‍යයෙන් වසර හතරකට වරක් මෙවැනි වෛරස් ප්‍රභේදයන්ගේ වෙනස්වීම් නිසා රෝගීන් වාර්තා වීම ඉහළ යන බව ඒ මහතා පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

කෝට්ටේ ප්‍රදේශයේ ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ ඩෙංගු මර්දන ක්ෂේත්‍ර පරීක්ෂාවකට එක්වෙමින් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

ඩෙංගු මදුරුවන් බෝවීම පාලනය කිරීමේදී රජයට වඩා ජනතාවට විශාල වගකීමක් පවතින බව අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය.

"ඩෙංගු මදුරුවා බෝවෙන්නේ සාමාන්‍ය කානු පද්ධතිවලට වඩා තමන්ගේ නිවෙස්වල එකතු වන පිරිසිදු ජලය තුළයි. ඒ නිසා තමන්ගේ වටපිටාව පිරිසිදුව තබාගැනීමේ වගකීම ගෘහණියන් ඇතුළු නිවැසියන් සතු වෙනවා" යැයි ඔහු පැවසීය.

ප්‍රදේශයේ පවතින අත්හැර දමා ඇති නිවාස සහ ඉඩම් ඩෙංගු මදුරුවන් බෝවන ප්‍රධාන මධ්‍යස්ථාන බවට පත්ව ඇති බව නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

එවැනි ස්ථාන සම්බන්ධයෙන් ගත යුතු ප්‍රතිපත්තිමය තීරණ පිළිබඳව නගර සභාව සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කර කඩිනම් පියවර ගන්නා බව ද ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටියේය.

පවතින වසංගත තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා ජනතාවගේ සහයෝගය අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බවත්, විධිමත් කළමනාකරණයක් හරහා රෝග ව්‍යාප්තිය අවම කිරීමට රජය කැපවී සිටින බවත් චතුරංග අබේසිංහ මහතා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

Virus Variation Drives Increase in Dengue Cases, Says Minister

The recent surge in dengue patients can largely be attributed to changes in the virus strain, emphasized Chaturanga Abeysinghe, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. These virus variations typically lead to a spike in reported cases roughly every four years, he noted.

Speaking during a field inspection aimed at controlling dengue in the Kottawa area, the Deputy Minister highlighted the crucial role of the general public in combating the breeding of dengue-carrying mosquitoes. He pointed out that contrary to popular belief, mosquitoes do not primarily breed in common drainage systems but rather in clean water that accumulates around residential properties. Thus, maintaining a clean environment is a responsibility shared by all residents, including householders.

Abeysinghe also pointed out that abandoned houses and vacant plots within the area have become major breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes. He indicated that discussions regarding policy decisions to address such locations will be held with the municipal council to take prompt action.

The Deputy Minister reiterated the vital importance of public cooperation in managing the ongoing dengue outbreak, stating that the government remains committed to minimizing disease transmission through effective management strategies.
