අධිකරණයට අත නොතබනු, විධායකයේ වියරුවට එරෙහිව මහජන පෙත්සම’ සඳහා අත්සන් ලබා ගැනීමේ වැඩසටහනක් (25) දින නාවලපිටිය නගර මධ්‍යයේදී පැවැත්වුණි.

ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය, නීතිය, ආධිපත්‍යය සහ අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වය ආරක්‍ෂා කිරීම සඳහා බැඳී සිටින වත්මන් රජය උපරිමාදීකරන විනිසුරුවන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීමට කටයුතු කිරීම සහ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණ සහ අභියාචනාධිකරණ විනිසුරු පුරප්පාඩු පත් නොකිරීම වැනි අත්තනෝමතික ක්‍රියා කලාප තුළින් අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වයට අනිසි බලපෑමක් සිදුවන බවත්, වත්මන් රජය බලයට පත්වීමේදී එහි ප්‍රතිපත්ති ප්‍රකාශය තුළ මෙවැනි කාරණා සඳහන් නූවූ බවත්, ජනතා විසින් නොඉල්ලන මෙවැනි ක්‍රියාදාම නොකර පොරොන්දු වූ කර්තව්‍යයන් සිදුකරන ලෙස තමන් ජනාධිපතිතුමන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින බව මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක් වූ නාවලපිටිය සමගි ජන බලවේග ආසන සංවිධායක සසංක සම්පත් මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළ සිටිහ. 

මහජන පෙත්සම සඳහා අත්සන් යෙදීමට විශාල පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටි අතර, නාවලපිටිය නගර සභාව නියෝජනය කරන සමගි ජන බලවේග මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් මෙන්ම එහි බලය පිහිටවීමට ජාතික ජන බලවේග කණ්ඩායමට විරුද්ධ වත්මන් ස්වාධීන කණ්ඩායම් 02 හි සභාපතිට සහාය දැක්වූ ස්වාධීන කණ්ඩායම් අංක 01 හි නායක  නාවලපිටිය නගර සභාවේ  උප සභාපති කේ. සුරේෂ්වරන් මහතා ද මේ සඳහා එක්වී සිටියහ.

Public Petition Drive Launched Against Executive Overreach in Sri Lanka

A notable public initiative aimed at countering executive overreach by the government has gained momentum in Naula, where thousands gathered to collect signatures for a petition. This event, held on the 25th of the month, underscores growing concerns regarding the independence of the judiciary and the threats posed by current governmental actions.

Participants are voicing their demands for the protection of democracy, rule of law, and judicial independence. The current government is under scrutiny for measures that could potentially extend the retirement age of Supreme Court judges and limit the appointment of judges to the Supreme and Appeal Courts—a movement perceived as an undue influence on the judiciary.

Addressing the crowd, Sankalpa Sampath, the local organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, emphasized the need for adherence to constitutional principles, recounting that such actions were explicitly discouraged in the government’s policy statement at the time of assuming power. He called upon President Ranil Wickremesinghe to refrain from actions that the populace has not demanded and to uphold established commitments made to the citizens.

The event saw a significant turnout of supporters, including members of the Naula Municipal Council and various independent groups, further illustrating the growing civil unrest regarding the administration's recent controversial reforms. Community leaders and activists expressed solidarity, showcasing a united front against perceived governmental overreach.

Among the attendees was Surreshwaran, who actively participated in discussions about the implications of such governmental maneuvers on democratic practices in the country.
