හබරණ - කන්තලේ ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගයේ කිතුලූතුව ප්‍රදේශයේදී සිදුවූ දරුණු රිය අනතුරකින් 27 හැවිරිදි තරුණයෙකු ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්ව ඇති අතර, අනතුරින් පසු යතුරුපැදිය ගිනි ගැනීමෙන් අසල පිහිටි රක්ෂිතයේ අක්කර හයක පමණ ප්‍රමාණයක් විනාශ වී තිබේ.

මෙම අනතුර සිදුව ඇත්තේ හබරණ සිට කන්තලේ දෙසට ධාවනය වූ යතුරුපැදියක් සහ ප්‍රතිවිරුද්ධ දෙසින් පැමිණි මෝටර් රථයක් මුහුණට මුහුණ ගැටීමෙනි.

අනතුරත් සමඟ යතුරුපැදිය ක්ෂණිකව ගිනිගෙන ඇති අතර, එම ගින්න වේගයෙන් අසල කැලෑ රොදකට පැතිර ගොස් තිබේ.

අනතුරින් බරපතල තුවාල ලැබූ යතුරුපැදිකරු අනුරාධපුර ශික්ෂණ රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කිරීමෙන් පසු මියගොස් ඇත. මෙලෙස මියගොස් ඇත්තේ කන්තලේ, මීගස්වැව පදිංචිව සිටි කවිඳු ගයාෂාන් නැමැති තරුණයෙකි. මෝටර් රථයේ ගමන් කළ ඉන්දියානු ජාතික යුවළක් ද තුවාල ලබා කන්තලේ මූලික රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර ඇති අතර ඔවුන් මෙරට සංචාරයක නිරතව සිටි පිරිසක් බව පොලිසිය පවසයි.

යතුරුපැදියෙන් හටගත් ගින්න රක්ෂිතයට පැතිර යාමෙන් කවුඩුල්ල රක්ෂිතයේ අක්කර හයක පමණ ප්‍රමාණයක් සම්පූර්ණයෙන් විනාශ වී ඇත.

හබරණ ගිනි නිවන ඒකකයේ නිලධාරීන්, හබරණ පොලිසිය සහ ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් එක්ව දැඩි පරිශ්‍රමයක් යොදා ගින්න පාලනය කිරීමට සමත් විය. අනතුර හේතුවෙන් මෝටර් රථයට ද දැඩි හානි සිදුව තිබේ.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident Claims Young Life in Kithuluththawa

A tragic motorcycle accident on the main road from Habaraana to Kantalay has resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man. The collision ignited a fire that subsequently engulfed approximately six acres of nearby shrubland.

The incident occurred when the motorcycle, traveling towards Kantalay, collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. The impact was devastating, causing the motorcycle to burst into flames almost instantly.

The rider, identified as Gayashan Kavindu from Kantalay, succumbed to his severe injuries after being rushed to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. A couple of Indian nationals who were also in the car incurred injuries and were taken to the Kantalay Base Hospital for treatment, as confirmed by police sources. The pair was reportedly part of a tourist group visiting the area.

The blaze, sparked by the motorcycle fire, rapidly spread through the surrounding vegetation, leading to the complete destruction of around six acres of forest reserve.

Personnel from the Habaraana Fire and Rescue Unit, local police, and area residents worked diligently to bring the inferno under control. The accident also caused significant damage to the vehicle involved in the collision.
