සහල් භාවිතයෙන් බියර්, සත්ව ආහාර සහ විවිධ අතුරු නිෂ්පාදන සිදු කිරීම සඳහා පනවා තිබූ බාධාවන් ඉවත් කරමින්, සහල් සඳහා නව වෙළෙඳපොළක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමට රජය පියවර ගෙන ඇති බව ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව අවධාරණය කළේ අනුරාධපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පවුල් 67,000කට පිරිසිදු පානීය ජලය ලබාදීමේ අරමුණින් ක්‍රියාත්මක වන මහා පරිමාණ ජල ව්‍යාපෘතියක දෙවන අදියර කැබිතිගොල්ලෑවේදී ආරම්භ කරමිනි.

එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේ, මෙතෙක් සහල් භාවිත කළ හැක්කේ ආහාර පිණිස බත් ලෙස පමණක් බවට පනවා තිබූ ගැසට් නිවේදනය ඉවත් කිරීමට රජය කටයුතු කළ බවයි.

අතීතයේ සහල් නිෂ්පාදනය අවම මට්ටමක පැවතීම හේතුවෙන් එවැනි සීමාවන් පනවා තිබුණද, වර්තමානයේ පවතින අතිරික්ත අස්වැන්න කළමනාකරණය සඳහා විවිධාංගීකරණය අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බව ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

"අපේ රටේ සහල් නිෂ්පාදනය දැන් ඉහළ මට්ටමක පවතිනවා. ගොවියා නිපදවන වී අස්වැන්න බත් සඳහා පමණක් සීමා කිරීමෙන් වී මිල පහත වැටීමේ අවදානමක් පවතිනවා. සහල්වලින් බියර්, වයින්, බිස්කට්, කේක් සහ සත්ව ආහාර වැනි අතුරු නිෂ්පාදන සඳහා අවස්ථාව ලබා දීමෙන් වී සඳහා විශාල වෙළෙඳපොළක් සහ තරගකාරී මිලක් නිර්මාණය වෙනවා," යැයි ජනාධිපතිවරයා පැවසීය.

ජපානය වැනි රටවල් සහල් භාවිතයෙන් විවිධ නිෂ්පාදන සිදු කරමින් ඉහළ ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිලාභ ලබන ආකාරය උදාහරණයට ගත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පශ්චාත් අස්වනු හානි වැළැක්වීමේ ආයතන මගින් දැනටමත් පර්යේෂණ මට්ටමින් නිපදවා ඇති සහල් ආශ්‍රිත නිෂ්පාදන කඩිනමින් වෙළෙඳපොළට හඳුන්වා දීමට කටයුතු කරන බවද සඳහන් කළේය.

අනුරාධපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පදවිය, කැබිතිගොල්ලෑව, හොරොව්පොතාන සහ කහටගස්දිගිලිය යන ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාසවල ජනතාව මුහුණ දෙන බරපතළ පානීය ජල ගැටලුවට විසඳුම් ලෙස මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ.

මෙහි දෙවන අදියර යටතේ පවුල් ඒකක 67,000කට සෞඛ්‍යාරක්ෂිත පානීය ජලය හිමිවන අතර, එමගින් ප්‍රදේශයේ වකුගඩු රෝගය පාලනය කිරීමටද විශාල පිටුවහලක් ලැබෙනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

මෙම අවස්ථාවට ප්‍රදේශයේ දේශපාලන නියෝජිතයින්, රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් සහ විශාල ජනතාවක් සහභාගී වී සිටියහ.

Government Takes Steps to Establish New Market for Rice Products

In a significant move to diversify rice usage in Sri Lanka, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has announced the removal of restrictions on the production of beer, animal feed, and various other products derived from rice. This decision aims to create a new market for rice, previously limited to food preparation.

The President made this statement during the launch of the second phase of a large-scale water project aimed at providing clean drinking water to 67,000 families in the Anuradhapura District. Highlighting the project’s importance, he pointed out that the government has taken action to revoke the gazette notice that permitted rice to be utilized solely for cooking food.

Previously, limitations on rice production were imposed due to minimal yields. The President emphasized that with the current surplus harvest, diversification is crucial for effective management of excess grains.

"Our rice production is now at an elevated level. Restricting the utilization of rice solely for cooking increases the risk of price drops in the market. Allowing the use of rice for various products such as beer, wine, biscuits, cakes, and animal feed will create a substantial market and competitive pricing for rice,” he stated.

He pointed to examples from countries like Japan, which have successfully derived significant economic benefits through diverse rice products. The President noted that Sri Lanka's institutions for post-harvest loss prevention are already engaged in research to quickly introduce rice-based products to the market.

This project is being implemented as a solution to the severe drinking water crisis faced by communities in local administrative divisions such as Padaviya, Kabiligallawe, Horowpathana, and Kahadagaskuliyawa in the Anuradhapura District.

Under the second phase, safe drinking water will be provided to 67,000 household units, which is expected to play a significant role in managing kidney-related diseases in the region.

Numerous local political representatives, government officials, and a large crowd participated in the event to mark this important initiative.
