කුරුණෑගල පොලිසිය විසින් මේ සම්බන්ධ විමර්ශන කටයුතු ආරම්භ කර ඇති අතර සිදු කරන ලද විමර්ශනයේදී මෙම කාර් රථය අසලින් එම අවස්ථාවේ ගමන් ගන්නා දරුවා වයස අවුරුදු 08 ක් පමණ වන එම විදුහලේම අධ්යාපනය ලබන සිසුවෙකු බවට අනාවරණය කරගෙන ඇත.

Investigation Underway Following Viral Video of Car Set on Fire by Young Boy in Kurunegala
A recently circulated video on social media depicts a car being engulfed in flames, with a small child observed walking nearby. The footage includes audio suggesting that the child was responsible for setting the vehicle ablaze.
The incident took place at a school ground in the Kurunegala police jurisdiction. According to reports from the police station, on July 3, 2026, a vehicle valued at approximately 1,400,000 rupees was set on fire, with an 8-year-old child identified as a potential suspect connected to the incident.
The Kurunegala police have initiated an investigation, revealing that the child captured in the video is a student from the same school, aged around eight years.
However, no conclusive evidence has yet surfaced to substantiate the claim that the child actually ignited the car, with no witnesses or investigative evidence supporting this assertion so far.
In response to the incident, the Kurunegala police have reported the findings to the esteemed court and are continuing their investigation, while the government analyst office is working to gather forensic evidence related to the cause of the fire.
