මහා බැංකුව විසින් උද්ධමනය පාලනය කර ඇති බවට ප්රකාශ කළද, බස් ගාස්තු ඇතුළු අත්යවශ්ය සේවා ගාස්තු ඉහළ යාම හමුවේ ජනතාව දැඩි පීඩාවට පත්ව සිටින බව මන්ත්රීවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
ආර්ථිකය ශක්තිමත් කරන බව පවසන රජය, එහි සැබෑ ප්රතිලාභ ජනතාවට ලැබෙන්නේ කවදාද යන්න පිළිබඳව පැහැදිලි කළ යුතු බව ද ඔහු පැවසීය.
වී මිලදී ගැනීම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් රජය සෘජු පිළිතුරක් ලබා දිය යුතු බව අවධාරණය කළ කරුණානායක මහතා, "එදා වී කිලෝවක් රුපියල් 150කට මිලදී ගැනීමට හැකි වූවා නම් අද එය කළ නොහැක්කේ මන්ද?" යන්න ප්රශ්න කර සිටියේය.
වියා මෙන්ම පාරිභෝගිකයා ද ආරක්ෂා වන පරිදි ඉල්ලුම සහ සැපයුම මත පදනම්ව වී මිල තීරණය කළ යුතු බව ඔහුගේ අදහසයි.
දේශපාලන ක්ෂේත්රයේ පවතින තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් ඔහු කියා සිටියේ සමගි ජන බලවේගයට සහ එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂයට ශක්තිමත් නායකත්වයක අවශ්යතාව පවතින බවයි.
ප්රජාතන්ත්රවාදය සුරැකීමට නම් මැතිවරණ පැවැත්විය යුතු බවත්, විශේෂයෙන්ම කල් දමා ඇති පළාත් සභා මැතිවරණය කඩිනමින් පැවැත්විය යුතු බවත් ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.
හිටපු පොලිස්පතිවරයාගේ මරණය ඉතා සංවේදී සිදුවීමක් බවත්, එහි සත්ය අසත්යතාව පිළිබඳව වාර්තා කිරීමේදී මාධ්ය වඩාත් වගකීමෙන් කටයුතු කළ යුතු බවත් මන්ත්රීවරයා මෙහිදී පැවසීය.

Ravi Karunanayake Highlights Economic Struggles Amidst Government Claims of Growth
Despite the government's assertions of economic growth, the reality on the ground reveals a different story, as inflation and living costs continue to rise daily, according to Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake. He made these remarks during a media briefing held in Colombo.
While the Central Bank claims to be managing inflation, he emphasized that the public is facing severe pressure due to increasing fares for essential services, including bus transportation.
The MP called for clarity regarding when the true benefits of an ostensibly strengthening economy would reach the people, questioning the government's communication on the matter.
Karunanayake stressed the need for a direct response from the government concerning rice purchasing practices, raising a poignant question: "If a kilogram of rice could be bought for 150 rupees back then, why is that no longer possible today?"
He expressed that the pricing of rice should be determined based on supply and demand to protect both the farmer and consumer.
Commenting on the current political landscape, he highlighted the urgent need for strong leadership within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the United National Party.
To uphold democracy, he asserted the necessity of holding elections, particularly emphasizing the immediate need for postponed local government elections.
Karunanayake referred to the passing of the former police chief as a highly sensitive issue, urging the media to handle reports regarding its accuracy with utmost responsibility.
Additionally, while discussions have ensued about the unification of Tamil parties, he reiterated that all factions must come together for a common purpose: the triumph of the people.
