විනිසුරු විශ්‍රාම වයස 90 කළොත් මම යළිත් නඩු අහන්න සූදානම්..- විග්නේෂ්වරන්

 විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස අවුරුදු 90 දක්වා ඉහළ දැමුවහොත් තමන් යළිත් නඩු ඇසීමට සූදානම් බව හිටපු විනිසුරුවරයෙකු මෙන්ම උතුරු පළාත් හිටපු මහ ඇමති සී.වී. විග්නේෂ්වරන් මහතා පවසයි. 

මාධ්‍ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් ඔහු මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස ඉහළ දැමීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් විපක්ෂය දක්වන විරෝධය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් ඔහු කියා සිටියේ, විනිසුරුවරුන්ට සිය ධුර කාලය පිළිබඳ ස්ථාවරත්වයක් පවතින බැවින් ඔවුන් රජයට වාසිදායක ලෙස තීන්දු ලබා දෙනු ඇතැයි සිතීම වැරදි බවයි.

ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයේ සහ අභියාචනාධිකරණයේ විනිසුරුවරුන් ස්වාධීන පිරිසක් බවත්, ඔවුන්ව හිතාමතා ධුරවලින් ඉවත් කළ නොහැකි බවත් ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

"විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස ඉහළ දැමීමෙන් ඔවුන් ලබා ඇති අත්දැකීම් රටේ නීති පද්ධතියට තවදුරටත් ලබාගත හැකියි. එය ඉතා හොඳ තීරණයක්. මෙය අගවිනිසුරුවරයාට පමණක් සීමා නොවී සියලුම විනිසුරුවරුන්ට පොදුවේ බලපාන්නේ නම් එය වඩාත් යෝග්‍යයි," යනුවෙන් ද විග්නේෂ්වරන් මහතා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

තවද, නීතියේ සිංහල සහ ඉංග්‍රීසි පිටපත් අතර පවතින වෙනස්කම් පිළිබඳව ද ඔහු මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ අතර, ජනමත විචාරණයක් පැවැත්වීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අවසන් තීරණය ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය විසින් ගත යුතු බව ද ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

රජය ගෙන ඇති මෙම තීරණය ආපසු හැරවිය නොහැකි බවත්, එය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම රටේ නීතියේ උන්නතියට හේතු වන බවත් හිටපු මහ ඇමතිවරයා මෙහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

Former Chief Minister Advocates Raising Retirement Age for Judges

In a recent media conference, C.V. Wigneswaran, a former judge and the former Chief Minister of the Northern Province, expressed his readiness to resume legal duties if the retirement age for judges is increased to 90 years.

He weighed in on the opposition's objections to raising the retirement age for judges, asserting that these judicial figures possess stability in their tenures, which ensures they can deliver beneficial decisions for the government. He emphasized that it is misguided to assume that judges will not act in favor of the state.

Wigneswaran pointed out that judges in both the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal are independent individuals, making their removal from office a deliberate and challenging process.

“Extending the retirement age for judges allows the nation to benefit from their experienced insights within the legal framework. This would constitute a highly commendable decision. If the policy impacts not just the Chief Justice but all judges broadly, it becomes even more relevant,” he stated.

Additionally, he addressed discrepancies between the Sinhala and English versions of legal documents, underscoring the importance of holding a public referendum, with the final decision resting with the Supreme Court.

The former Chief Minister asserted that the government's current decision is irreversible and will significantly contribute to the advancement of the country's legal system.
