පිටි මිල රුපියල් 17කින් ඉහළ දැමීමට සිදුවූයේ ලෝකයේ පවතින යුදමය වාතාවරණය හේතුවෙන් ප්‍රවාහන හා රක්ෂණ ගාස්තු ඉහළ යාම නිසා බව වෙළඳ, වාණිජ හා ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතා නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ආර්.එම්. ජයවර්ධන මහතා පවසයි.

පිටි මිල ඉහළ යාම සම්බන්ධයෙන් මාධ්‍ය වෙත අදහස් දක්වමින් ඒ මහතා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ ගෝලීය අර්බුද හමුවේ ආනයනික භාණ්ඩවල මිල ඉහළ යාම පාලනය කිරීම අසීරු වුවද, රජය මැදිහත් වී ආනයන සමාගම් සමඟ කළ සාකච්ඡා හේතුවෙන් පිටි මිල මීට වඩා ඉහළ යාම වළක්වා ගැනීමට හැකි වූ බවයි.

"විශේෂයෙන්ම ලෝකයේ පවතින යුදමය තත්ත්වය නිසා නාවික ප්‍රවාහන වියදම් සහ රක්ෂණ ගාස්තු විශාල ලෙස වැඩි වී තිබෙනවා. මෙහි බලපෑම ආනයනික පිටි මිලටත් එකතු වෙනවා. ඇත්තටම මීට වඩා වැඩි මිලකින් පිටි මිල ඉහළ යාමට ඉඩ තිබුණත්, වෙළඳ අමාත්‍ය වසන්ත සමරසිංහ මහතා ඇතුළු අපේ අමාත්‍යාංශය අදාළ සමාගම් සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කර එය යම් මට්ටමකට පාලනය කළා," යැයි ඔහු පැවසීය.

විපක්ෂය මෙම තත්ත්වය දේශපාලන වාසි සඳහා යොදා ගනිමින් අසත්‍ය ප්‍රචාර පතුරුවන බවට චෝදනා කළ නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා, ජනතාවට සහන සැලසීම සඳහා රජය උපරිමයෙන් මැදිහත් වන බවද අවධාරණය කළේය.

ඒ අනුව, සතොස, කෝප් සිටි සහ යළි ආරම්භ කරන ලද ජාතික සමුපකාර තොග වෙළඳ සංස්ථාව හරහා තරඟකාරී මිලකට අත්‍යවශ්‍ය භාණ්ඩ ජනතාවට ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කරන බව ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

Global Turmoil Triggers Increase in Wheat Prices by Rs. 17, Says Deputy Minister

The recent rise in wheat prices by Rs. 17 has been attributed to the ongoing military tensions around the world, leading to skyrocketing transportation and insurance costs, according to R.M. Jayawardena, the Deputy Minister of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security.

Addressing the media today regarding the surge in wheat prices, he highlighted that although managing price increases for imported goods amid a global crisis is challenging, government intervention and discussions with import companies have helped prevent even steeper hikes.

“In particular, the current global military situation has significantly increased maritime transportation expenses and insurance costs. This impact combines with the prices of imported wheat. While there was a possibility for wheat prices to rise further, our ministry, including Minister Vasantha Samarasinghe, engaged with relevant companies to control the increases to a certain extent,” he explained.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister accused the opposition of using the situation for political gain by spreading misinformation, while emphasizing that the government is making every effort to assist the public.

He further added that essential goods will be provided to the public at competitive prices through Sathosa, Co-op City, and the re-launch of the National Supply Logistics Organization.
