අකිල විරාජ් රිමාන්ඩ් කෙරේ...

 

අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් හිටපු අමාත්‍ය අකිල විරාජ් කාරියවසම් මහතා මේ මස 18 වනදා දක්වා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කිරීමට කොළඹ ප්‍රධාන මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණය අද (05) නියෝග කළේය.

අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ නිලධාරීන් සහ සැකකාර හිටපු අමාත්‍යවරයා වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි නීතිඥවරුන් ඉදිරිපත් කළ කරුණු සලකා බැලීමෙන් අනතුරුව කොළඹ ප්‍රධාන මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අසංග එස්. බෝදරගම මහතා විසින් මෙම නියෝගය නිකුත් කරන ලදී.

හිටපු ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතාගේ උපදේශකවරයෙකු ලෙස කටයුතු කළ සමයේදී, රජයේ මුදලින් වැටුප් ගෙවමින් පෞද්ගලික සේවකයින් නඩත්තු කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ඔහුට මෙම චෝදනා එල්ල වී තිබේ.

විමර්ශනවලට අනුව, තම කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය සඳහා බව පවසමින් බඳවා ගත් සේවකයින් සිව්දෙනෙකුගෙන් තිදෙනෙකු අකිල විරාජ් කාරියවසම් මහතාට අයත් පෞද්ගලික ඉන්ධන පිරවුම්හලක සේවයේ යොදවා ඇත. අනෙක් සේවකයා තනතුරට අදාළ කාර්යාලයේ රාජකාරී සඳහා යොදවා නොමැති බව ද හෙළි වී තිබේ.

මෙම සේවකයින් සිව්දෙනා සඳහා රජය විසින් රුපියල් 2,768,836.14 ක වැටුප් හා දීමනා ගෙවා ඇති අතර, එමගින් රජයට බරපතළ මූල්‍ය පාඩුවක් සිදු කිරීම හරහා දූෂණය නැමැති වරද සිදු කර ඇති බවට අල්ලස් කොමිසම අධිකරණයට කරුණු වාර්තා කළේය.

ඒ අනුව සැකකරු රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කිරීමට මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරයා නියෝග කළේය.

Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam Ordered to Remain in Custody Until October 18

Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam will remain in custody until October 18, as ordered by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today, October 5.

This decision came after a review of submissions made by legal representatives on behalf of the suspect and officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order following a thorough consideration of the evidence presented.

Kariyawasam faces allegations related to the employment of private workers funded by the government during his tenure as an advisor to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Investigations revealed that of four workers allegedly recruited for his office, three were employed at a private fuel station owned by Kariyawasam, while the remaining worker was found to be unassigned to any official duties.

The government reportedly disbursed a total of 2,768,836.14 Sri Lankan Rupees in salaries and allowances for these four employees, leading to significant financial loss for the state and constituting an act of corruption, according to the Bribery Commission's report to the court.

Consequently, the magistrate has decreed that the accused must be remanded in custody.
