 සියලුම දුම්රිය සේවකයන් හා නිලධාරින්ට සමාජ මාධ්‍ය තහනමක් පැනවීමට දුම්රිය සාමාන්‍යාධිකාරිවරයා විසින් නිකුත් කළ චක්‍රලේඛය නිසා දුම්රිය ධාවන, මෙහෙයුම් හා පාලන කටයුතු රැසක්ම ඇනහිටින බවට දුම්රිය වෘත්තිය සමිති අනතුරු අඟවා සිටී. මෙම තීරණයට එරෙහිව දුම්රිය එන්ජින් රියැදුරු, නියාමක, ස්ථානාධිපති, රියැදුරු සහායක, රත්මලාන කාර්මික ඇතුළු වෘත්තිය සමිති 20ක පමණ නියෝජිතයන් කොළඹදී රැස්වීමට නියමිත බව දුම්රිය ස්ථානාධිපති සංගමයේ කසුන් චාමර ජයසේකර පැවසීය.

මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් දැඩි විරෝධී ස්ථාවරයක වෘත්තිය සංගම් පසුවන බවද හෙතෙම කීවේය.

දුම්රිය රියැදුරන් හා නියාමකවරුන් මෙහෙයුම් කාර්යාලය හා පණිවුඩ හුවමාරු කිරීම වට්ස්ඇප් මගින් සිදුකෙරෙන බවත් දුම්රිය ස්ථානාධිපතිවරුන් දුම්රිය පැමිණෙන වේලාවන් හා පිටවන වේලාවන්ද වට්ස්ඇප් සමූහයක් මගින් යාවත්කාලීන කරන බවත් කී කසුන් චාමර ජයසේකර දුම්රිය උප දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවල පරිපාලන කටයුතු ද බොහෝ විට සමාජ මාධ්‍ය භාවිතය ඔස්සේ සිදුවන බවත් කීවේය.

දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ගැන හසල දැනුමක් නොමැතිව දුම්රිය උප දෙපාර්තමේන්තු ප්‍රධානීන්ගේ කිසිදු යෝජනාවක් හෝ උපදේශයක් නොපිළිපදිමින් කටයුතු කර සිටින දුම්රිය සාමාන්‍යාධිකාරීවරයා තමන් පාලනය කරන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පරිපාලන ව්‍යූහය හෝ නොදැනීම විහිළුවක් බවද හෙතෙම කීවේය.

රාජ්‍ය වියදම් කළමනාකරණය කරගැනීම සඳහා රජය විසින් පනවා ඇති චක්‍රලේඛයට අනුවද ආයතනික ලිපි හා තොරතුරු වට්ස්ඇප් මගින් සිදුකිරීමට දී ඇති උපදෙස්ද නොසලකා හරිමින් දුම්රිය සාමාන්‍යාධිකාරිවරයා මෙම චක්‍රලේඛය නිකුත් කර ඇති බවද දුම්රිය වෘත්තිය සමිති පෙන්වා දෙයි.

Railway Workers Warn of Disruptions Following Social Media Ban

Concerns are rising among railway unions as a circular issued by the Railway General Manager enforces a ban on social media usage for all railway staff. This decision threatens to disrupt numerous operations, scheduling, and management activities within the railway system. A gathering of representatives from around 20 professional unions, including locomotive engineers, supervisors, and mechanical workers from Ratmalana, is set to take place in Colombo to protest this directive, as stated by Kasun Chamara Jayasekara from the Railway Station Masters' Association.

He emphasized that a strong opposition stance is anticipated from the unions regarding the ban on social media.

The exchange of messages and coordination among train drivers and supervisors traditionally occurs via WhatsApp, and station masters frequently use this platform to update arrival and departure times. Jayasekara noted that a significant portion of administrative tasks within the Railway Department is also carried out through social media channels.

Commenting on the matter, he criticized the Railway General Manager for acting without adhering to any recommendations or guidance from heads of departments, indicating a lack of understanding of the administrative framework under his purview.

The unions highlighted that the circular issued by the General Manager disregards the guidelines established by the government for managing state expenditures, which encourage the use of institutional communication through WhatsApp.
