අධිකරණ විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීමේ පනත් කෙටුම්පත සම්බන්ධයෙන් මල්වතු පාර්ශ්වයේ මහා නාහිමියන් දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා අමාත්‍යවරුන් පිරිසක් අද (03) උන්වහන්සේ බැහැදැක තිබේ.

අධිකරණ අමාත්‍ය හර්ෂණ නානායක්කාර සහ සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස යන මහත්වරුන් මෙම හමුව සඳහා එක්ව සිටියහ.

මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ මල්වතු මහා නාහිමියන් අවධාරණය කළේ විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කරන්නේ නම්, එම සහනය සියලුම රාජ්‍ය සේවකයන්ට ද ලබා දිය යුතු බවයි.

එක් පුද්ගලයෙකු හෝ එක් පිරිසක් පමණක් ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් මෙවැනි සංශෝධන සිදු කිරීම සුදුසු නොවන බව උන්වහන්සේ පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

"හැම නඩුකාරයෙක්ටම වගේම රජයේ හැම නිලධාරියෙක්ටම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීමක් තියෙනවා නම් හොඳයි. එක්කෙනෙක් ඉලක්ක කරලා මේක කරන එක හොඳ නැහැ," යනුවෙන් මහා නාහිමියෝ මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළහ.

මහා නාහිමියන් වෙත කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළ අධිකරණ අමාත්‍ය හර්ෂණ නානායක්කාර මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, ලෝකයේ බොහෝ රටවල විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස අවුරුදු 70 හෝ ඊට වැඩි බවයි.

අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වය රැක ගැනීමට සහ පවතින විනිසුරු හිඟයට පිළියමක් ලෙස මෙම පියවර ගන්නා බව අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසීය.

විනිසුරුවරුන් 50 දෙනෙකු බඳවා ගැනීමට අයදුම්පත් කැඳවූ අවස්ථාවේදී ඉදිරිපත් වූයේ 33 දෙනෙකු පමණක් බවත්, එම නිසා මෙම වයස් සීමාව දීර්ඝ කිරීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වී ඇති බවත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

මෙම පනත් කෙටුම්පත සඳහා නීතිපතිවරයාගේ අනුමැතිය හිමිව ඇති බවත්, ඉදිරියේදී එය ගැසට් මගින් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කිරීමට නියමිත බවත් අමාත්‍යවරුන් මෙහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළහ.

මෙය කිසිසේත්ම එක් පුද්ගලයෙකු ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් සිදු කරන්නක් නොවන බව ද ඔවුහු මහා නාහිමියන් හමුවේ ප්‍රකාශ කළහ.

Government Officials Brief Malwathu Chapter on Judicial Retirement Age Proposal

In a significant gathering today, a group of government ministers met with senior members of the Malwathu Chapter to discuss a proposed bill aimed at extending the retirement age for judges. The meeting featured key participants, including Minister of Justice Harshana Rajakaruna and Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa.

During the discussions, the monks emphasized that if the retirement age for judges is to be extended, similar adjustments should also benefit all government employees. They expressed concern over proposals that target specific individuals or groups, indicating that such approaches are inappropriate.

"It would be beneficial if there is an age extension for all judges as well as every government official. Targeting just one individual is not a good strategy," the monks articulated during their address.

Minister Rajakaruna clarified that in many countries, the retirement age for judges is often 70 years or older. He pointed out that this move aims to safeguard the independence of the judiciary and to address the current shortage of judges within the system.

He revealed that during a recent recruitment initiative for 50 judges, only 33 applications were received, underscoring the need for an increase in the retirement age.

The ministers further noted that the bill has already received the Attorney General's approval and is expected to be formally published through a gazette in the near future. They assured the monks that the proposal is not intended to single out any individual.
