ශ්‍රී ලංකාව මුහුණ දී සිටින තෙල් සහ ගෑස් අර්බුදයට විසඳුමක් මන්නාරම දිස්ත්‍රික්කයෙන් ලබාගත හැකි බව කර්මාන්ත සහ ව්‍යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍ය සුනිල් හඳුන්නෙත්ති මහතා පවසයි.

ජාතික ලුණු සමාගමේ මන්නාරම ලේවායේ නව පාලන ගොඩනැගිල්ල සහ ගබඩා සංකීර්ණය විවෘත කිරීමේ උත්සවයට එක්වෙමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

මන්නාරම යනු ස්වභාවධර්මයෙන් ලැබුණු මහා සම්පත් ගබඩාවක් බවත්, එහි ලුණු වලට අමතරව තවත් වටිනා ඛනිජ සම්පත් රැසක් පවතින බවත් ඔහු මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය.

මන්නාරම් ද්‍රෝණියේ තෙල් සහ ගෑස් ගවේෂණ කටයුතු ආරම්භ කිරීමට රජය මේ වන විටත් තීරණය කර ඇති බවත්, ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ගිවිසුම්වලට පසුගියදා අත්සන් තැබූ බවත් අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසීය.

මෙම ගවේෂණ කටයුතු සාර්ථක වුවහොත් මෙරට බලශක්ති අර්බුදයට මන්නාරමෙන් විසඳුම් සෙවිය හැකි බව ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

Minister Highlights Mannar as Solution to Sri Lanka's Oil and Gas Crisis

In a bold assertion, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneur Development, Sunil Handunnetti, has indicated that solutions to Sri Lanka's ongoing oil and gas crisis can be sourced from the Mannar District. This statement was made during the inauguration of a new administrative building and storage complex of the National Salt Corporation in Mannar.

Handunnetti emphasized that Mannar is a natural resource treasure trove, highlighting not only the region's salt resources but also a plethora of other valuable mineral deposits.

The Minister also revealed that the government has officially decided to initiate oil and gas exploration activities in the Mannar basin. He noted that agreements necessary for this venture had been signed just days prior.

Should these exploration efforts prove successful, Handunnetti believes Mannar could provide critical solutions to the country’s energy crisis.
