India Set a Strong Foundation on Day One of Test Match Against Sri Lanka

In the opening day of the first Test match between Sri Lanka and India at the Galle International Cricket Stadium today (15), India concluded their first innings at a commendable score of 101 runs for the loss of just one wicket before the match was suspended for lunch.

Having won the toss, the Indian team opted to bat first. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was out for 32 runs after facing 37 balls, dismissing himself via a run-out as he attempted a quick single.

At the lunch break, Lokesh Rahul and Devandra Padikkal remained unbeaten on 32 and 35 runs, respectively. The Indian scoring rate stood at 3.74 runs per over after 27 overs.

However, the match's attendance has been notably low, raising eyebrows as this crucial encounter unfolds. Several spectator boxes in the stadium were visibly empty, with at times no sign of onlookers whatsoever.

Despite the Sri Lanka Cricket Board offering free admission to boost spectator turnout, the turnout remains a strikingly low figure during this significant match.
