 පවතින අයහපත් කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සියලුම පීඨවල අධ්‍යයන කටයුතු සහ විභාග නැවත දැනුම් දෙන තුරු තාවකාලිකව අත්හිටුවීමට විශ්වවිද්‍යාල පාලනාධිකාරිය තීරණය කර තිබේ.

විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ උපකුලපති මහාචාර්ය ටෙරන්ස් මධුජිත් මහතා නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කරමින් සඳහන් කරන්නේ, අධ්‍යයන කටයුතු මෙලෙස අත්හිටුවනු ලැබුවද විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ අත්‍යවශ්‍ය සේවාවන් අඛණ්ඩව පවත්වාගෙන යන බවයි.

සිසුන්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව වෙනුවෙන් විශේෂ උපදෙස් මාලාවක් ද පාලනාධිකාරිය විසින් නිකුත් කර ඇත.

ඒ අනුව, තම නිවෙස් බලා ආරක්ෂිතව ගමන් කළ හැකි සිසුන්ට විශ්වවිද්‍යාල පරිශ්‍රයෙන් බැහැරව යාමට අවසර හිමිවන අතර, ගමනාගමන දුෂ්කරතා පවතින සිසුන්ට විශ්වවිද්‍යාල නේවාසිකාගාරවල රැඳී සිටීමට පහසුකම් සලසා තිබේ.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, අවදානම් තත්ත්වයක පවතින "සරසවි මැදුර" නේවාසිකාගාරය හැර අනෙකුත් නේවාසිකාගාරවල රැඳී සිටීමට සිසුන්ට අවස්ථාව ඇති බවත්, ඒ සඳහා නේවාසිකාගාර පාලනාධිකාරිය දැනුවත් කළ යුතු බවත් එම නිවේදනයේ දැක්වේ.

පෞද්ගලික නේවාසික ස්ථානවල රැඳී සිටින සිසුන් අතරින් අවදානම් සහිත ස්ථානවල සිටින පිරිස් වෙතොත්, ඔවුන්ට ද ආරක්ෂාව පතා විශ්වවිද්‍යාල නේවාසිකාගාර වෙත පැමිණිය හැකි බව උපකුලපතිවරයා දන්වා සිටියි. එවැනි සිසුන් භාරගෙන අවශ්‍ය පහසුකම් සලසන ලෙස නේවාසිකාගාර පාලනාධිකාරියට උපදෙස් දී ඇති අතර, කිසිදු සිසුවෙකුට නේවාසිකාගාරවලින් බැහැර වන ලෙස බලපෑම් නොකරන බව ද පාලනාධිකාරිය අවධාරණය කරයි.

කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය යහපත් වන තෙක් සිය ආරක්ෂාව පිළිබඳව දැඩි අවධානයෙන් පසුවන ලෙස විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ප්‍රජාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින අතර, විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය නැවත ආරම්භ කරන දිනය ඉදිරියේදී මාධ්‍ය මගින් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කිරීමට නියමිතය.

Peradeniya University Suspends All Academic Activities Amid Adverse Weather Conditions

Peradeniya University has decided to temporarily suspend all academic activities and examinations across its faculties in light of ongoing adverse weather conditions. This decision reflects the institution's commitment to ensuring the safety of its students and staff.

In a statement issued by Vice-Chancellor Professor Terence Madhujith, it was emphasized that while academic activities have been halted, essential university services will continue uninterrupted.

To safeguard students, the university administration has released a series of special guidelines. Students who can travel safely to their homes are permitted to leave the campus, while those facing travel difficulties have been accommodated in university hostels.

However, it is noted that apart from the "Sarasavi Mandiraya" hostel, which is currently in a risky condition, students can remain in other hostels, provided they inform the hostel administration about their situation.

Students residing in private accommodations in hazardous areas are also encouraged to seek refuge in the university hostels. The Vice-Chancellor has instructed hostel management to ensure these students are received and provided with necessary facilities, reiterating that no student should feel pressured to leave the hostels.

The university has urged the community to remain vigilant regarding their safety until weather conditions improve. An announcement regarding the resumption of normal operations will be made through the media in due course.
