The complaint was put forth by Oshala Herath, a social and political activist, who insists that the trip was indeed a private endeavor and not a state-sponsored mission.

According to the data published on the UK government’s official website, specifically in the report detailing 'Visits by Heads of State and Government,' there is no mention of Wickremesinghe visiting the UK as an official guest from July to December 2023. Herath pointed out that this absence of acknowledgment raises serious questions.

The records clearly outline details of other current and former heads of state visiting Britain during the same timeframe, yet the name of the Sri Lankan President was noticeably missing, underscoring concerns regarding the nature of the visit.

Allegations have surfaced that the trip cost the Sri Lankan public a staggering amount of 166 million rupees, which has further fueled the outcry against potential misuse of state funds.

All pertinent information, including this significant data obtained from the UK government's records, has now been submitted by Herath to the investigators for further examination.
