 මෙරට ප්‍රධාන තිරිඟු පිටි සැපයුම්කරුවන් වන ප්‍රීමා (Prima) සහ සෙරන්ඩිබ් (Serendib) සමාගම් විසින් තිරිඟු පිටි කිලෝග්‍රෑමයක මිල රුපියල් 17කින් ඉහළ දැමීමට පියවර ගැනීමත් සමඟ, පාන් ඇතුළු බේකරි නිෂ්පාදනවල මිල ගණන් ද ඉදිරියේදී ඉහළ යනු ඇතැයි වාර්තා වේ.

අද (29) සිට ක්‍රියාත්මක වන පරිදි සිදුකළ මෙම මිල සංශෝධනය හේතුවෙන් පාන්, බනිස්, රෝල්ස් සහ පැටිස් ඇතුළු පිටි ආශ්‍රිත නිෂ්පාදන රැසක මිල ඉහළ යාමේ අවදානමක් මතුව තිබේ.

තිරිඟු පිටි මිල ඉහළ යාම හමුවේ සිය නිෂ්පාදන පිරිවැය ද ඉහළ යන බැවින්, බේකරි නිෂ්පාදනවල මිල ගණන් සංශෝධනය කිරීමට සිදුවන බව බේකරි හිමියන් පෙන්වා දෙයි.

ලෝක වෙළෙඳපොළේ තිරිඟු මිල ඉහළ යාම, නෞකා ප්‍රවාහන සහ රක්ෂණ ගාස්තු ඉහළ යාම මෙම මිල වැඩි කිරීමට ප්‍රධාන හේතු වී තිබේ. විශේෂයෙන්ම ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාව සහ කැනඩාව වැනි විකල්ප වෙළෙඳපොළවලින් තිරිඟු ආනයනය කිරීමට සිදුවීමෙන් තමන් දැඩි පිරිවැය පීඩනයකට ලක්ව සිටින බව ආනයනික සමාගම් පවසයි.

මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් වෙළෙඳ, වාණිජ, ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතා සහ සමුපකාර සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍ය වසන්ත සමරසිංහ මහතා සමඟ පැවැති සාකච්ඡාවකදී ආනයනකරුවන් මෙම ගැටලු ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇත.

Price Surge in Flour to Affect Bakery Products in Sri Lanka

The price of flour is set to increase by Rs. 17 per kilogram as leading suppliers Prima and Serendib take measures to adjust their prices. As a result, bakery items, including bread, are expected to see a rise in prices in the near future.

This price adjustment, effective from today (29th), has raised concerns about impending price hikes for a variety of flour-based products, such as bread, pastries, and rolls.

Bakers have indicated that the increase in flour prices will lead to higher production costs, necessitating adjustments in the pricing of bakery goods.

Key factors driving the rise in flour prices include increases in global market prices, along with hikes in shipping and insurance costs. Importers are particularly feeling the pressure due to the need to source flour from alternative markets like Australia and Canada.

During discussions with Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Supply Chain Management, Wasantha Samarasinghe, importers raised these concerns regarding the challenges they are facing.
