 ඉහල කොත්මලේ ජල පෝෂක ප්‍රදේශවලට තව දුරටත් ඇදහැලෙන ඇද හැලෙන අධික වර්ෂාව හේතුවෙන් ඉහල කොත්මලේ ජලාශයේ වාන් දොරටු තුනක් (03) දින අලුයම ස්වයක්‍රීයව විවෘත වී ඇති බව එම ජලාශභෘර ඉංජිනේරුවරුන් පැවසිය.

ඉහල කොත්මලේ ජල පෝෂක ප්‍රදේශවලට තවදුරටත් අධික වැසි පතිත වුවහොත් එම ජලාශයේ සෙසු වාන් දොරටු ස්වයංක්‍රියව විවෘත වන බැවින් ජලාශ වේල්ලට පහලින් කොත්මලාඔයේ දෙපස පදිංචිකරුවන් සැලකිලිමත් ලෙස සිටින ලෙසයි ආපදා කලමණාකරණ ඒකකයේ ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ.

ප්‍රදේශයට ඇද හැලෙන අධික වර්ෂාවත් සමග සෙන් ක්ලෙයාර් සහ ඩෙවෝන් දිය ඇලි වල ජල ධාරිතාව ඉහල ගොස් ඇත.

Heavy Rains Trigger Automatic Openings of Dams in Upper Kotmale

Severe and persistent rains have prompted the automatic opening of three gates at the Upper Kotmale Reservoir, according to engineers overseeing the water facility. The situation emerged early on the morning of the 3rd, as rain levels continued to rise significantly in the water catchment areas.

Authorities have warned that if heavy rainfall persists, additional gates at the reservoir will also automatically open. The Disaster Management Center has urged residents living on either side of the Kotmale River to remain vigilant, highlighting the need for caution around the areas prone to flooding.

Heavy rainfall, particularly in the regions of Senkclear and Devon, has significantly increased the water levels in adjacent water bodies. The situation calls for close monitoring as communities prepare for potential impacts from the surging water levels.
