Reports indicate that the government has initiated a special inquiry by intelligence agencies to ascertain whether there are any political machinations behind the protests against the extension of retirement age for judges. The aim of this investigation is to determine if external forces are influencing or instigating these demonstrations.

In line with this, multiple intelligence teams are currently closely monitoring the groups leading the protests and their activities. Sources within the government reveal that there is significant attention on the dynamics of the demonstrations.

The decision to extend the retirement age for judges has already created unrest within the legal sector and the judiciary. Minister of Justice and National Unity, Harsha de Silva, has stated that the President has been briefed on the proposals presented by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka concerning these concerns.

Furthermore, he mentioned that key points on this issue are expected to be presented at the upcoming Cabinet meeting on Monday.
