A heated atmosphere marked a recent meeting meant to select officials for the Rambewa Division of the Anuradhapura Multifunctional Services Society, as reported by the Sun News Service. The gathering took place at the Mahakandaraaya campus in Mihintale.

However, the meeting was postponed due to insufficient participants required for voting. This decision led to unrest among those who had gathered, with members of the opposition expressing their discontent vocally during the event.

Local residents voicing their opinions indicated that claims suggesting Malimawa's popular support were unfounded, as illustrated by the poor turnout. Many locals questioned the organizers' ability to garner even a modest crowd, raising concerns about the credibility of the prevailing administration.

Additionally, attendees, especially women present at the meeting, were outspoken about the injustices faced by farmers under the current regime. They openly criticized the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna party, highlighting the challenges and adversities affecting their community.
