ලංකාවේ බිම් බෝම්බ ගැන සුප‍්‍රකට හොලිවුඩ් නිළියක් කතා කරයි..

 ලෝකප්‍රකට හොලිවුඩ් රංගන ශිල්පිනී සහ බිම්බෝම්බ ඉවත් කිරීමේ ජාත්‍යන්තර තානාපතිනි රෝසමන්ඩ් පයික් (Rosamund Pike) මහත්මිය නිවාස, ඉදිකිරීම් හා ජලසම්පාදන අමාත්‍ය වෛද්‍ය සුසිල් රණසිංහ‍ මහතා හමුවී සුහද සාකච්ඡාවක නිරත විය.

බත්තරමුල්ලේ පිහිටි අමාත්‍යාංශ ප්‍රධාන රැස්වීම් ශාලාවේ දී පැවති මෙම හමුවේ දී  ලංකාවේ බිම්බෝම්බ ඉවත් කිරීමේ ප්‍රගතිය පිළිබඳ  රෝසමන්ඩ් මහත්මිය විමසූ අතර,  ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රමිතීන්ට අනුකූලව සිදුවන මෙම කාර්යභාරය පිළිබඳව සිය ප්‍රසාදයද පළ කළාය.

දැනට ලංකාවේ බිම්බෝම්බ සහිතව තිබූ ප්‍රදේශවලින් 90%ක්ම සාර්ථකව නිදහස් කර අවසන්ය.

ඉතිරිව ඇති වර්ග කිලෝමීටර 20.8ක භූමි ප්‍රමාණය ඉතාම සංකීර්ණ කටුක ප්‍රදේශ වන අතර ඉදිරි වසර 4 තුළ ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම බිම්බෝම්බවලින් තොර රටක් බවට ප්‍රකාශයට පත්කිරීමට අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද හමුදාවේ බිම්බෝම්බ ඉවත් කිරීමේ විශේෂ පුහුණුවලත් සෙබළුන් 500 දෙනෙකු මේ සඳහා යෙදවීමට කටයුතු යොදා ඇති අතර, අනෙකුත් අංශ හැරුණුවිට යුද හමුදා නිලධාරීන් පමණක් වසරකට වර්ග කිලෝමීටර 1.5ක් නිදහස් කිරීම ඔවුන්ගේ ඉලක්කයයි.

මේ සඳහා රජය විසින් වෙන්කරන මුදල් ප්‍රමාණය පසු ගිය වසරට සාපේක්ෂව  දෙගුණයකින් වැඩි කර ඇත.

මෙය හුදෙක් බිම්බෝම්බ ඉවත් කිරීමක් පමණක් නොව, උතුර සහ නැගෙනහිර සංවර්ධනය කරමින්, සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කරමින්, සිංහල, දෙමළ, මුස්ලිම් සියලු ජනතාව අතර විශ්වාසය ගොඩනගන උතුම් ජාතික මෙහෙයුමකි.

International Actress Rosamund Pike Discusses Landmine Removal Progress with Sri Lankan Minister

Renowned Hollywood actress and advocate for landmine removal, Rosamund Pike, recently engaged in a cordial discussion with Minister of Housing, Construction, and Water Supply, Dr. Susil Premajayantha. The meeting took place at the main conference hall of the Ministry located in Battaramulla.

During her visit, Pike inquired about the progress of landmine removal operations in Sri Lanka, expressing her commendation for the efforts being made in alignment with international standards. Currently, an impressive 90% of the territories previously affected by landmines have been successfully cleared.

The remaining area poses a significant challenge, comprising 20.8 square kilometers in particularly complex and rugged regions. Authorities anticipate that Sri Lanka will be declared entirely free of landmines within the next four years.

The Sri Lanka Army has assigned 500 trained personnel specifically for the landmine clearance operations, with a yearly target to free 1.5 square kilometers of land. This focus is designed to enhance the safety and development of the northern and eastern regions.

This initiative is backed by the government, which has doubled the financial allocations for landmine removal compared to the previous year. It reflects not just an effort to clear landmines, but also a broader national initiative that aims to foster development in the North and East, promote tourism, and strengthen trust among all communities—Sinhalese, Tamils, and Muslims alike.
