මෙට්‍රො බස් සමාගමට තවත් බිලියනයක් දෙයි..

 මෙරට පොදු ප්‍රවාහනය නවීකරණය කිරීමේ අරමුණින් 2007 අංක 7 දරන සමාගම් පනතේ විධි විධාන යටතේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගමනාගමන මණ්ඩලයට අයත් පරිපාලිතසමාගමක් ලෙස ලංකා මෙට්‍රො ට්‍රාන්සිට් (පුද්ගලික) සමාගම 2025-10-03 දින සංස්ථාගත කරනු ලැබ ඇත. 

ක්ලීන් ශ්‍රී ලංකා වැඩසටහන යටතේ වෙන් කර දෙන ලද අරමුදල් මඟින් මිල දී ගනු ලැබූ පත්ල පහත් බස් රථ 10ක් යොදා ගනිමින් එම සමාගම විසින් ආරම්භ කරනු ලැබ ඇති කොළඹ නාගරික ප්‍රවාහන නියමු මෙහෙයුම් කටයුතු වල වර්තමාන ප්‍රගතිය සැලකිල්ලට ගැනීමේදී එම සේවාවේ වාණිජමය ශක්‍යතාව සහ මහජන පිළිගැනීම තහවුරු වී තිබේ. 

ඒ අනුව, එම සමාගම විසින් එළඹෙන සැප්තැම්බර් මාසයේදී තවත් පත්ල පහත් බස්රථ 112 ක් සේවයේ යෙදවීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත. 

අදාළ මෙහෙයුම් කටයුතු විධිමත්ව හා කාර්යක්ෂමව පවත්වා ගෙන යාම සඳහා ඒ කල ප්‍රදේශයේ අංග සම්පූර්ණ මධ්‍යම වැඩපොළක් ඉදි කිරීම, තලංගම, කඩවත, රත්මලාන හා හෝමාගම යන ස්ථානයන්හි නවීන බස් ඩිපෝ ඉදි කිරීම, අභ්‍යන්තර මාර්ග හා බස් නැවතුම් අංගන සංවර්ධනය කිරීම ආදී යටිතල පහසුකම් කඩිනමින් සංවර්ධනය කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාව හඳුනා ගනු ලැබ තිබේ. 

ඒ අනුව, එකී යටිතල පහසුකම් සංවර්ධනය කිරීමේ කටයුතු වෙනුවෙන් යොදා ගැනීම සඳහා ලංකා මෙට්‍රො ට්‍රාන්සිට් (පුද්ගලික) සමාගම වෙත රුපියල් මිලියන 800 ක් මෙම වර්ෂය තුළදී සහ 2027 වසරේ සමාගමේ මෙහෙයුම් කටයුතු සඳහා තවත් රුපියල් මිලියන 267.5 ක් වශයෙන් හිමිකම් ප්‍රාග්ධනය සලසා දීම පිණිස ප්‍රවාහන, මහා මාර්ග සහ නාගරික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.

Launch of Lanka Metro Transit Set to Revolutionize Public Transport in Colombo

In a significant step towards revitalizing public transport in Sri Lanka, the Lanka Metro Transit (Private) Company has been established on October 3, 2025, under the provisions of the Companies Act No. 7 of 2007. This administrative company falls within the jurisdiction of the Sri Lanka Transport Board.

Utilizing funds allocated under the Clean Sri Lanka program, the company has commenced operations with ten newly procured low-floor buses. Current assessments of the Colombo urban transport services indicate promising financial viability and a positive reception from the public as they pave the way for enhanced commuter experiences.

Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce an additional 112 low-floor buses into service in September. This strategic expansion is aimed at meeting the growing demand for efficient urban transportation.

To ensure the seamless and effective operation of these services, there is an urgent need to develop essential infrastructure in the region. This includes constructing a comprehensive central depot and establishing modern bus terminals in Talangama, Kadawatha, Ratmalana, and Homagama. Additionally, enhancing internal routes and upgrading bus stop facilities are critical priorities identified for immediate action.

Consequently, an allocation of 800 million Sri Lankan Rupees has been proposed for the development of these infrastructure facilities within this year. Furthermore, the Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development has submitted a proposal for additional operational funding amounting to 267.5 million Rupees for 2027, which has been approved by the Cabinet. This funding will support Lanka Metro Transit in fulfilling its mission to transform public transport in Colombo.
