සාගරගේ ප‍්‍රකාශයෙන් මට මරණ බය ඇති වුනා..- පොලිස්පති කියූ බව CCIB කියයි

 

ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ මහලේකම්, නීතිඥ සාගර කාරියවසම් මහතා විසින් සිදුකරන ලද ප්‍රකාශයක් හේතුවෙන් තමාට මරණ බියක් ඇතිවූ බව පොලිස්පති ප්‍රියන්ත වීරසූරිය මහතා දැනුම් දී තිබේ.

සාගර කාරියවසම් මහතා අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන කඩුවෙල මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කළ අවස්ථාවේදී මධ්‍යම අපරාධ විමර්ශන කාර්යාංශය මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

37 වන පොලිස්පතිවරයා සම්බන්ධයෙන් සාගර කාරියවසම් මහතා මාධ්‍ය හමුවකදී කළ ප්‍රකාශයක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් පොලිස්පතිවරයා කළ පැමිණිල්ලකට අනුව මෙම විමර්ශන ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

එහිදී පොලිසිය පෙන්වා දුන්නේ දණ්ඩ නීති සංග්‍රහයේ 102, 108, 113, 120, 186 සහ 486 යන වගන්ති ප්‍රකාරව සැකකරු වරදක් සිදුකර ඇති බවයි.

විශේෂයෙන්ම පොලිස්පතිවරයාගේ ජීවිතයට තර්ජනයක් වන අයුරින් සහ මහජන කැළඹීමක් ඇතිවන අයුරින් මෙම ප්‍රකාශය සිදුකර ඇති බව විමර්ශන නිලධාරීන් අධිකරණය හමුවේ පැවසීය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, සාගර කාරියවසම් මහතා වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි ජනාධිපති නීතිඥ සම්පත් මෙන්ඩිස් මහතා තර්ක කළේ, අදාළ ප්‍රකාශය මගින් පොලිස්පතිවරයාට රජයට නොව ජනතාවට සේවය කරන ලෙස කළ අවවාදයක් මිස මරණ තර්ජනයක් සිදුකර නොමැති බවයි.

පොලිසිය විසින් සම්පූර්ණ ප්‍රකාශය ඉදිරිපත් නොකර එහි කොටසක් පමණක් ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති බවත්, එමගින් කරුණු විකෘති වී ඇති බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

ඉදිරිපත් වූ කරුණු සලකා බැලූ කඩුවෙල මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරයා, සැකකාර සාගර කාරියවසම් මහතා රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 20 බැගින් වූ ශරීර ඇප දෙකක් මත මුදා හැරීමට නියෝග කළේය.

Police Chief Claims Death Threats Following Comments by SLPP Secretary

The Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasuriya, has revealed that he feels threatened for his life due to remarks made by Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam. This statement was made during Kariyawasam's presentation to the Kadawatha Magistrate’s Court after his arrest.

The investigations were initiated based on a complaint filed by Weerasuriya following comments made by Kariyawasam during a media briefing about the 37th Police Chief. The Criminal Investigation Department disclosed that the statements made by Kariyawasam breached several sections of the Penal Code, specifically sections 102, 108, 113, 120, 186, and 486, indicating that the suspect had committed an offense.

Investigators informed the court that the comments were made in a manner that threatened the life of the Police Chief and could potentially cause public unrest.

However, legal counsel for Kariyawasam, President's Counsel Sampath Mendis, contended that the statements were not a death threat but rather a warning to the Police Chief to serve the public rather than the government. He also pointed out that the police had only presented partial evidence, claiming it distorted the original intent of the remarks.

After considering the presented arguments, the Kadawatha Magistrate ordered the release of Sagara Kariyawasam on two surety bonds worth 2 million rupees each.
