ජනලේඛන සහ සංඛ්යාලේඛන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව 2026 අගෝස්තු මාසය සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ජාතික පාරිභෝගික මිල දර්ශකය (ජා.පා.මි.ද.) සහ මාසික පාරිභෝගික උද්ධමන අනුපාතය ප්රකාශයට පත් කරයි.
ඒ අනුව 2026 ජූලි මාසයේ දී 7.2% ක් ලෙස වාර්තා වූ මෙරට උද්ධමන අනුපාතය 2026 අගෝස්තු මාසය සඳහා 8.1% ක් දක්වා වැඩි වී ඇත.
2026 ජූලි මාසයේ දී 4.9% ක් ලෙස වාර්තා වූ ආහාර කාණ්ඩයේ ලක්ෂ්යමය උද්ධමන අනුපාතය 2026 අගෝස්තු මාසයේ දී 6.6% ක් දක්වා වැඩි වී ඇත.
එමෙන්ම, 2026 ජූලි මාසයේ දී 9.2% ක් වූ ආහාර නොවන කාණ්ඩයේ ලක්ෂ්යමය උද්ධමන අනුපාතය 2026 අගෝස්තු මාසයේ දී 9.3% ක් දක්වා වැඩි වී ඇත.
Sri Lanka's Inflation Rate Sets to Rise in August 2026
The Department of Census and Statistics announced the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) for Sri Lanka alongside the monthly inflation rate for August 2026.
According to the release, the inflation rate, which was reported at 7.2% in July 2026, has now escalated to 8.1% for August 2026.
In the food category, the targeted inflation rate rose from 4.9% in July 2026 to 6.6% in August 2026, indicating a significant increase in food prices.
Similarly, the non-food category also saw a rise, with the inflation rate moving from 9.2% in July 2026 to 9.3% in August 2026.
*Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
