Arrest Made in Inhumane Assault Case of 16-Year-Old in Kandy

Authorities in Kandy have taken the local councilor and her husband into custody following a disturbing incident involving a 16-year-old boy living in a children's home in the Mailapitiya area. The police have reported allegations of brutal assault against the minor.

Investigations have revealed that the suspects allegedly inflicted cruelty by applying chili powder to the boy's private areas. This shocking act of violence has prompted immediate action from law enforcement.

The comprehensive investigation allowed police to apprehend the suspects based on credible information about the incident.

Initially, the victim was admitted to the Marassana Hospital for treatment, but he has since been transferred to the Kandy National Hospital for further care.

Following their arrest, the councilor and her husband were presented before the Kandy Magistrate's Court, which ordered them to be remanded until the 7th of next month.
