මෙරට ආර්ථිකයේ ජංගම ගිණුමේ ශේෂය වසරේ මුල් මාස පහ තුළ ධනාත්මක මට්ටමක පැවතුණ ද, ලෝක වෙළඳපොළේ ඉන්ධන මිල ගණන් ඉහළ යාම හේතුවෙන් මෑත මාස කිහිපය තුළ එය සුළු වශයෙන් ඍණ අගයක් ගෙන ඇති බව ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ 'අපේ ආණ්ඩුව - වසර දෙකයි - රටට සුබයි' යන තේමාව යටතේ ගම්පහ නගර සභා පිටියේ පැවති ජන රැලිය අමතමිනි.

එහිදී කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළ ජනාධිපතිවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, මැදපෙරදිග කලාපයේ පවතින යුද ගැටුම් හේතුවෙන් ලෝක වෙළඳපොළේ ඉන්ධන මිල සීඝ්‍රයෙන් ඉහළ ගිය බවයි. මීට පෙර මෙරට මාසික ඉන්ධන අවශ්‍යතාව වෙනුවෙන් සාමාන්‍යයෙන් ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 150ක් පමණ වැය වුව ද, පවතින තත්ත්වය හමුවේ එම වියදම ඩොලර් මිලියන 300ක් දක්වා දෙගුණයකින් ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව හෙතෙම සඳහන් කළේය.

මෙරටින් බැහැරට ඇදී යන ඩොලර් ප්‍රමාණය ඉහළ යාම ආර්ථික ශේෂය සුළු වශයෙන් ඍණ වීමට ප්‍රධානතම හේතුව වූ බව ජනාධිපතිවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් පැහැදිලි කළේය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, වත්මන් පාලනයේ පසුගිය වසර දෙකක කාලය තුළ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ඉතිහාසයේ වැදගත්ම හා සාර්ථකම ආර්ථික දර්ශක රැසක් වාර්තා කිරීමට රජය සමත් වූ බව ජනාධිපතිවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.

දීර්ඝ කාලයක් පුරා පැවති අයවැය හිඟය 2.3% දක්වා පහත හෙළීමට හැකිවීම, ජංගම ගිණුමේ ඩොලර් මිලියන 1,800ක ඓතිහාසික අතිරික්තයක් පවත්වා ගැනීම ඇතුළු ක්ෂේත්‍ර ගණනාවක කැපී පෙනෙන ප්‍රගතියක් අත්පත් කරගත් බව පෙන්වා දුන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා, ජාතික ජන බලවේග රජයට ආර්ථිකය කළමනාකරණය කළ නොහැකි බවට විරුද්ධ පාර්ශ්ව එල්ල කළ සියලු සැක සංකා ප්‍රායෝගිකවම බිඳහෙළා ඇති බව ද කියා සිටියේය.

President Discloses Economic Challenges Amidst Rising Fuel Prices

Amid a backdrop of rising global fuel prices, Sri Lanka's economic stability has faced slight setbacks, as noted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The president revealed that while the country's mobile account balance was positive during the first five months of the year, recent months have seen a shift towards a marginal deficit.

Speaking at a public rally in Gampaha under the theme "Our Government - A Blessing for the Country in Two Years," the president elaborated on the challenges posed by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, which have led to a sharp increase in fuel costs globally. He indicated that the country's monthly fuel expenditure, previously around USD 150 million, has dramatically surged to approximately USD 300 million under current circumstances.

He emphasized that the escalating outflow of dollars has significantly contributed to the slight downturn in the economic balance. However, the president was keen to highlight the remarkable achievements in economic indicators over the past two years under the current administration.

Notable advancements include reducing the long-standing budget deficit to 2.3% and maintaining a historic surplus of USD 1.8 billion in the mobile account. The president further pointed out that these developments invalidate all speculation regarding the government’s ability to effectively manage the economy, addressing concerns raised by opposition factions.
