පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රී නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව මගින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන්, ඔහුගේ පක්ෂය වන ශ්රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණටත් ප්රථමයෙන් එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂය සිය විරෝධය පළ කරමින් විශේෂ නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කර තිබේ.
එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂ මාධ්ය අංශය මගින් නිකුත් කළ මෙම නිවේදනය මගින් පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ, නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම දේශපාලන අරමුණක් සහිතව සිදු කර ඇති බවයි.
විශේෂයෙන්ම එළඹෙන 12 වනදා අනුරාධපුර නගරයේදී නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතව තිබූ ශ්රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ "ජනතා රැලිය" කඩාකප්පල් කිරීමේ අරමුණින් රජය මෙම පියවර ගෙන ඇති බව එම පක්ෂය චෝදනා කරයි.
ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ නායක අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතාට රට වටා ගොස් රැස්වීම් පැවැත්වීමට ඇති ප්රජාතන්ත්රවාදී අයිතිය නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතාටද හිමි විය යුතු බවත්, එම අයිතිය උදුරා ගැනීම නූතන ශිෂ්ට සම්පන්න සමාජය අනුමත නොකරන බවත් එහි සඳහන් වේ.
මෙවැනි මර්දනකාරී ක්රියා දෙස නූතන 'Gen-Z' පරපුර බලන්නේ දැඩි පිළිකුලකින් බවද එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂය පෙන්වා දෙයි.
දිනෙන් දින පිරිහෙන ජනතා ප්රසාදය හමුවේ රජය මෙවැනි ක්රියා මාර්ග හරහා අසරණ වී ඇති බව පෙන්වා දෙන එම නිවේදනය, අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම් මගින් ජනතා නායකයන් කෙරෙහි පවතින ප්රසාදය නැති කළ නොහැකි බව රජයට අවධාරණය කර සිටියි.
සිදු වීම ගැන මේ වන තෙක් ශ්රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ නිල නිවේදනයක් ප්රකාශ වී නැත.
UNP Accuses Government of Political Motives Behind Arrest of Namal Rajapaksa
The United National Party (UNP) has publicly condemned the arrest of Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, asserting that the action stems from a politically motivated agenda. This declaration follows a statement released by the party’s media division, which asserts that Rajapaksa’s detention is part of a broader governmental strategy.
According to UNP officials, the government’s decision to apprehend Rajapaksa appears aimed at disrupting an upcoming rally scheduled for December 12 in Anuradhapura, where he was to lead Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna's (SLPP) "People’s Rally." The party claims this initiative reflects efforts to undermine its political activities.
Furthermore, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the National People’s Power coalition, emphasized the importance of Rajapaksa's democratic right to organize public meetings, highlighting that such rights should not be infringed upon. The UNP's statement condemns any actions that appear to curtail democratic freedoms, delineating them as unacceptable in a modern civilized society.
The UNP has pointed out that the current regime's choice to undertake these oppressive measures only drives discontent among the youth, particularly the modern 'Gen-Z' generation, who view such tactics as severely detrimental.
As public approval for the government continues to dwindle, the UNP's statement reinforces the notion that arrests of popular leaders cannot erase the existing support they hold among the populace. To date, the SLPP has not issued an official response regarding the arrest of Namal Rajapaksa.
