 ජනාධිපතිවරයා ගම්පහ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සංචාරයක නිරත වන බව පවසමින්, ප්‍රදේශයේ නීත්‍යානුකූල බලපත්‍ර සහිත තුවක්කු හිමි පුද්ගලයන්ට එම ගිනිඅවි පොලිසිය වෙත භාර දෙන ලෙස නියෝග කිරීම මෙරට ඉතිහාසයේ කිසිදා සිදු නොවූ පුදුමාකාර ක්‍රියාවක් බව සමගි ජන බලවේගයේ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී හර්ෂණ රාජකරුණා මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කරයි.

මාධ්‍ය වෙත විශේෂ ප්‍රකාශයක් සිදු කරමින් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ හර්ෂණ රාජකරුණා මහතා කියා සිටියේ, දරුණු ත්‍රස්තවාදී යුද සමයේදී පවා මෙවැනි අසාමාන්‍ය ආරක්ෂක ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගෙන නොතිබූ බවයි.

ජනාධිපතිවරයාගේ සංචාරය අවසන් වන තෙක් බලපත්‍ර සහිත සියලු ගිනිඅවි පොලිස් ස්ථාන වෙත භාර දෙන ලෙස සිදුකර ඇති මෙම දැනුම්දීම හාස්‍යජනක විහිළුවක් බඳු ක්‍රියාවක් බවද ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

මීට අමතරව, 22 වැනි ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය සම්මත කර ගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන්ද අදහස් පළ කළ මන්ත්‍රීවරයා, ඊට විරුද්ධව විවිධ පාර්ශ්ව කුමන ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගත්තද අවසානයේ එම සංශෝධනය සම්මත වූ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, එම සංශෝධනය ඔස්සේ නිර්මාණය වන අහිතකර ප්‍රතිඵල සහ එහි බරපතළ වන්දිය ඉදිරි අනාගතයේදී ගෙවීමට සිදුවන්නේ මේ රටේ පොදු ජනතාවට බවද හෙතෙම වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Government's Unprecedented Arms Surrender Order Criticized by Opposition MP

During a visit to the Gampaha District, President Ranil Wickremesinghe issued an extraordinary directive, ordering individuals possessing licensed firearms in the area to surrender their weapons to the police. This unprecedented action has prompted strong criticism from Member of Parliament Harshana Rajakaruna of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Rajakaruna made these remarks during a special media briefing, highlighting that such a drastic security measure was never implemented, even during times of severe terrorism and conflict.

The directive to surrender all licensed firearms to police stations until the completion of the President's visit was dismissed by him as a “laughable joke.” He underscored the lack of any historical precedent for such a move.

Additionally, Rajakaruna expressed concerns regarding the recent approval of the 22nd Constitutional Amendment, mentioning that despite opposition from various factions, the amendment ultimately passed. He cautioned that the adverse consequences stemming from this amendment would heavily burden the citizens of the country in the future.
