හිටපු කථානායක මහින්ද යාපා අබේවර්ධන මහතාගේ නිල නිවසේ බඩු වට්ටෝරු පොත (ඉන්වෙන්ටරි ලේඛනය) අතුරුදන්ව ඇතැයි එහි කළමනාකාර පසන් අතුකෝරල මහතා අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාවට දැනුම් දී ඇතැයි ලංකාදීප පුවත්පත අනාවරණය කර තිබේ.

එහිදී කළමනාකාර පසන් අතුකෝරල මහතා පවසා ඇත්තේ, අදාළ බඩු වට්ටෝරු පොත භාරව කටයුතු කළ කථානායකවරයාගේ පෞද්ගලික කාර්ය මණ්ඩල නිලධාරියා ළඟ එම ලේඛනය නොමැති බව තමා වෙත දැනුම් දුන් බවයි.

මේ අතර, හිටපු කථානායකවරයාට ලබාදී තිබූ පහසුකම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්‍රශ්න කිරීම සඳහා නියෝජ්‍ය අධ්‍යක්ෂ (පාලන) චින්තා කුලන්සිංහ මහත්මිය ඇතුළු උසස් නිලධාරීන් තිදෙනෙකු ද මීට පෙර අල්ලස් කොමිසම හමුවට කැඳවා තිබිණි. තවද, මෙම පැමිණිල්ල සිදුකළ හිටපු නියෝජ්‍ය මහලේකම්වරයාගෙන් ද ප්‍රකාශ සටහන් කරගෙන ඇති අතර, සිදුව ඇතැයි කියන දූෂණ හා අක්‍රමිකතාවලට අදාළ ලියකියවිලි තොගයක් ද ඔහු විසින් කොමිසම වෙත භාරදී ඇති බව එම පුවත්පත් වාර්තාවේ වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් වේ.

Former Speaker's Inventory Records Reported Missing Amid Corruption Investigation

The official inventory records from the residence of former Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena have reportedly gone missing, according to a disclosure made to the Bribery Commission by the house's manager, Pasan Athukorala. This revelation has sparked concern regarding potential corruption and mismanagement linked to the allocation of the official residence.

In a recent development, the Bribery Commission conducted a thorough five-hour questioning session with Athukorala at the former Speaker's residence on allegations surrounding misappropriation and corruption. The inquiry commenced after the commission had been formally notified about these issues.

Athukorala conveyed that the inventory logs, which were supposed to be transferred from the Speaker’s office, could not be located, as informed by a member of the former Speaker's personal staff.

The commission has previously alerted Chinthana Kulansinghe, the Deputy Director (Administration) of Parliament, to prepare all relevant documentation, including worker records associated with the official residence, as well as paperwork concerning utilities and other payments for submission to the commission’s special investigations unit.

This investigation, initiated under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, follows a complaint lodged by former Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff, Attorney-at-Law Chaminda Kulaaratne. The Bribery Commission had also summoned several high-ranking officials, including Kulansinghe, to clarify the privileges allotted to the former Speaker.

Additionally, statements have been recorded from the complainant, who provided the commission with a substantial volume of documents pertinent to the alleged incidents of corruption and mismanagement.
