ලංකාවට නයිජීරියාවෙන් ඉන්ධන ගේන්න යයි..

 නයිජීරියාවෙන් බොරතෙල් ආනයනය කිරීමේ හැකියාව පිළිබඳව ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාව යළිත් අවධානය යොමු කර ඇත.

මීට පෙර නයිජීරියාවෙන් ගෙන්වන ලද බොරතෙල් සාම්පලයක ජලය මිශ්‍ර වී තිබීම හේතුවෙන් එය භාවිතයට ගත නොහැකි තත්ත්වයක පැවතිණි.

 ඒ අනුව, විධිමත් පරීක්ෂණයක් සිදු කිරීම සඳහා නව බොරතෙල් සාම්පලයක් ලබා දෙන ලෙස නයිජීරියානු බලධාරීන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා ඇති බව ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාවේ සභාපති ඩී.ජේ. රාජකරුණා මහතා පවසා ඇත.

ඉහළ යන ඉන්ධන මිල ශ්‍රී ලංකාව වැනි රටකට විශාල අභියෝගයක් වී ඇති බැවින්, වඩාත් වාසිදායක විකල්ප වෙළෙඳපොළවල් ගවේෂණය කිරීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වී ඇති බව සභාපතිවරයා පෙන්වා දෙයි.

"අපි නිරන්තරයෙන් විකල්ප වෙළෙඳපොළවල් පිළිබඳව සොයා බලනවා. නයිජීරියානු බොරතෙල් මෙරට පිරිපහදුව තුළ පිරිපහදු කළ හැකිද යන්න පිළිබඳව අප තාක්ෂණිකව පරීක්ෂා කළ යුතුයි," යනුවෙන් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කර තිබේ.

දැනට සපුගස්කන්ද තෙල් පිරිපහදුව මගින් මෙරට ඉන්ධන අවශ්‍යතාවයෙන් සියයට 25ත් 30ත් අතර ප්‍රමාණයක් සපුරාලනු ලබන අතර, නයිජීරියානු බොරතෙල් එම පිරිපහදුවට උචිත වුවහොත් එය මෙරට බලශක්ති පිරිවැය කළමනාකරණයට විශාල පිටුවහලක් වනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

Sri Lanka Refocuses on Nigerian Crude Oil Import Potential Following Quality Concerns

The Sri Lanka Mineral Oil Regulatory Authority has renewed its attention towards the feasibility of importing crude oil from Nigeria. This comes in light of previous complications where a sample shipment was deemed unsuitable for use due to contamination with water.

In a bid to mitigate such issues, D. J. Rajakaruna, the chairman of the authority, disclosed that they have requested Nigerian authorities to provide a new batch of crude oil samples for thorough testing.

With rising fuel prices posing significant challenges for a country like Sri Lanka, exploring alternative and advantageous markets has become imperative, emphasized Rajakaruna.

"We are continuously on the lookout for alternative markets. Technically, we need to assess the feasibility of refining Nigerian crude oil here," he added, underlining the urgency of the matter.

Currently, the Sapugaskanda oil refinery meets approximately 25% to 30% of the country's fuel requirements. If Nigerian crude proves suitable for this facility, it could provide a substantial boost to Sri Lanka's energy cost management strategy.
