සාමාන්ය අධ්යාපන පද්ධතිය තුළ සිදු කිරීමට නියමිත පුළුල් වෙනස්කම්වල එක් පියවරක් ලෙස, පාසල්වල විෂය කාලච්ඡේදයක් විනාඩි 40ක් දක්වා සංශෝධනය කිරීමට නව අධ්යාපන ප්රතිසංස්කරණ මඟින් යෝජනා කර ඇති බව වාර්තා වෙයි.
අග්රාමාත්ය මෙන්ම අධ්යාපන, උසස් අධ්යාපන සහ වෘත්තීය අධ්යාපන අමාත්ය ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය මෙනෙවියගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් සැප්තැම්බර් 09 වැනිදා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී පැවති අධ්යාපන ප්රතිසංස්කරණ පිළිබඳ අනුකමිටු රැස්වීමේදී මෙම යෝජනාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් දීර්ඝ වශයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කර තිබේ.
මෙම ප්රතිසංස්කරණ වැඩපිළිවෙළ යටතේ මේ වසරේදී 1 ශ්රේණිය සඳහා නව වැඩසටහන් ක්රියාත්මක වන අතර, 2 සහ 6 ශ්රේණි සඳහා වන ප්රතිසංස්කරණ 2027 වසරේ සිට ආරම්භ කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත.
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සාමාන්ය අධ්යාපනය සඳහා වන ජාතික විෂයමාලා රාමුව මඟින් පාසල් විෂයමාලාව සහ ශිෂ්ය ඇගයීම් පද්ධතිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් සංශෝධන රැසක් ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති අතර, විනාඩි 40ක කාලච්ඡේද හඳුන්වා දීමට අමතරව පාසල් පැවැත්වෙන කාලසීමාවන්හි සිදු කෙරෙන වෙනස්කම් ද ඊට ඇතුළත් වන බව නිලධාරීහු පෙන්වා දෙති.
අධ්යාපන, උසස් අධ්යාපන හා වෘත්තීය අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශයේ ලේකම් නාලක කළුවැව මහතා විසින් අදාළ ප්රතිසංස්කරණවල ප්රගතිය සහ ඉදිරි සැලසුම් පිළිබඳ වාර්තාවක් මෙම රැස්වීමට ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලදී.
මීට අමතරව, ජාතික අධ්යාපන කොමිෂන් සභාව මඟින් සකස් කරන ලද ජාතික විෂයමාලා රාමුව, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සාමාන්ය අධ්යාපනය පිළිබඳ සංකල්ප පත්රිකාව (2026) සහ සාමාන්ය අධ්යාපනය සඳහා වූ පාසල් මට්ටමේ ඇගයීම් හා සහතික කිරීමේ රාමුව මේ වන විට අමාත්යාංශය වෙත ලැබී ඇති අතර, එම ලියකියවිලි කඩිනමින් අමාත්ය මණ්ඩල අනුමැතිය සඳහා යොමු කිරීමට නියමිතය.
මෙම කමිටු රැස්වීම සඳහා අධ්යාපන හා උසස් අධ්යාපන නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය ආචාර්ය මධුර සෙනෙවිරත්න, විභාග කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල් ඉන්දික ලියනගේ යන මහත්වරුන් ඇතුළු පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රීවරු සහ අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශයේ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීහු පිරිසක් සහභාගී වූහ.
Proposed Education Reforms in Sri Lanka to Revise School Subject Duration
In a move aimed at significantly reforming the education system, Sri Lankan authorities are considering a proposal to reduce the duration of school subjects to 40 minutes. This initiative is part of a broader educational reform agenda designed to enhance the learning experience for students.
The proposal was discussed in detail during a parliamentary committee meeting on education reform, which took place on September 9, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
This reform plan includes the implementation of new programs for Grade 1 this year, while revisions for Grades 2 and 6 are slated to begin in 2027. The National Curriculum Framework for general education in Sri Lanka has outlined numerous changes related to school curricula and student assessment systems.
In addition to introducing a 40-minute period for subjects, officials highlighted that modifications to the school schedule will also be included as part of the reform efforts.
During the meeting, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Nalaka Kaluwaw, presented a report on the progress of these reforms and the plans moving forward.
Moreover, the National Education Commission has submitted documents regarding the National Curriculum Framework, the Concept Paper for General Education (2026), and the framework for school-level assessments and certifications, which are expected to be swiftly forwarded for Cabinet approval.
The meeting saw participation from various members of parliament, including the Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madhura Seneviratne, and the Commissioner General of Examinations, Indika Liyanage, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Education.
