මෙම අර්බුදකාරී තත්ත්වය හමුවේ තමන් ඇතුළු පවුලේ සාමාජිකයන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා හමුවූ බවත්, කෙසේ හෝ තම පුත්‍රයා බේරා දෙන බවට ජනාධිපතිවරයා එහිදී ප්‍රතිඥා දුන් බවත් ඔහු ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

President Pledges to Intervene in Case of Sri Lankan Facing Death Penalty in Saudi Arabia

Concern is mounting over the plight of a Sri Lankan national, Sivarasa Anojan, who faces the death penalty in Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that the President has committed to filing an appeal in the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia, as well as taking diplomatic measures to secure his release.

Anojan's uncle revealed these developments during an appearance on the Hiru TV channel, providing additional insights into the situation. He emphasized that despite online claims suggesting otherwise, Anojan is facing a death sentence, and the gravity of the matter cannot be understated.

Amid these alarming circumstances, family members, including the uncle, recently met with the President, who assured them that efforts would be made to facilitate Anojan's release. The President's commitment reflects a serious concern for the well-being of the Sri Lankan citizen.

In response to the urgent situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reportedly preparing to deploy a special diplomatic team to Saudi Arabia, aiming to engage with officials and expedite a resolution. Immediate action is deemed necessary in light of Anojan's precarious standing.
