 ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු ජාතික ව්‍යාපාරිකයකුට අයත් සමාගමක කොටස් අයුතු ලෙස පරිහරණය කර රුපියල් මිලියන 21ක සාපරාධී විශ්වාසය කඩකළ බවට චෝදනා ලබා සිටි හිටපු අමාත්‍ය උදය ගම්මන්පිල මහතා එම නඩුවෙන් නිදොස් කොට නිදහස් කිරීමට කොළඹ මහාධිකරණය නියෝග කළේය.

දීර්ඝ නඩු විභාගයකින් අනතුරුව කොළඹ මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු නදී අපර්ණා සුවදුරුගොඩ මහත්මිය විසින් මෙම නියෝගය ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරන ලදී.

තීන්දුව ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරමින් විනිසුරුවරිය සඳහන් කළේ, විත්තිකරුට එරෙහිව පැමිණිල්ල විසින් එල්ල කර ඇති සියලු චෝදනා සාධාරණ සැකයෙන් ඔබ්බට ඔප්පු කිරීමට පැමිණිලි පාර්ශ්වය අපොහොසත් වී ඇති බවයි.

ඒ අනුව විත්තිකාර උදය ගම්මන්පිල මහතා අදාළ චෝදනාවලින් නිදොස් කොට නිදහස් කිරීමට විනිසුරුවරිය නියෝග කළාය.

Colombo High Court Acquits Former Minister Udaya Gammanpila in Fraud Case

In a significant ruling, the Colombo High Court has acquitted former Minister Udaya Gammanpila of all charges related to the alleged misuse of shares valued at Rs. 21 million belonging to a company owned by Australian businessman Bryan Shadwick. The court found the accusations to be unsubstantiated.

This decision was announced by Justice Nadee Aparna Sudharugoda after an extensive trial period. The judge highlighted that the prosecution had consistently failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt against the defendant.

In delivering the verdict, Justice Sudharugoda emphasized that the evidence presented did not sufficiently support the claims made by the prosecution, leading to Gammanpila’s exoneration from the allegations.

The case centered around accusations that Udaya Gammanpila had fraudulently obtained a fake attorney's license to facilitate the unauthorized sale of shares in a company linked to Shadwick, thus violating the trust placed in him. These charges were originally filed during the previous government’s tenure by the Attorney General.
