Amid the burgeoning trend of monetization across social media platforms, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has called for heightened vigilance among parents and guardians regarding the posting of children’s photos and videos online. The ministry highlighted a rapid increase in sharing these images on platforms like Facebook, raising concerns over child safety.
In a special announcement, officials from the ministry pointed out that various individuals and organizations have been utilizing children's videos for commercial purposes, often under the guise of showcasing their talents and valuing their entertaining activities.
The ministry emphasized a worrying trend where parents may give permission, or sometimes not, for the dissemination of their children's likenesses on social media. This practice has opened children's everyday lives to a broad external audience, which poses significant risks to their personal privacy and security.
Moreover, the growing issue of such images and videos being used as sources for artificial intelligence to create inappropriate or harmful content has raised serious alarms. This underlines the escalating threats facing children in the digital landscape.
Consequently, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs is urging parents and guardians to engage more responsibly and consciously with social media usage to protect children from potential hazards linked to their online presence.
