ඉදිකිරීමක් මුල්කරගනිමින් ඇතිවූ ආරවුලක් හේතුවෙන් විශ්‍රාමික ගුරුවරියක සහ ඇයගේ ඉංජිනේරු පුත්‍රයා කාමරයක රඳවාගෙන කායික හා මානසික වධහිංසා පැමිණවීමේ සිදුවීමකට අදාළව, ජාතික ජන බලවේගය යටතේ පාලනය වන කිරින්ද - පුහුල්වැල්ල ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ සභාපතිවරයා තිහගොඩ පොලිසිය මඟින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන තිබේ.

අත්අඩංගුවට පත් සභාපතිවරයා ඇතුළු සැකකරුවන් පිරිස මාතර මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණය හමුවට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව, ඔවුන් ශරීර ඇප මත මුදාහැරීමට මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරයා නියෝග කළේය.

මෙම ගැටුම හටගෙන ඇත්තේ කිරින්ද, වඩිගවත්ත මාර්ගයේ පිහිටි අනවසර තාප්පයක් ඉදිකිරීමේ සිද්ධියක් මුල්කරගනිමිනි. 

එම නීතිවිරෝධී ඉදිකිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට යැයි පවසමින් සහ ඒ පිළිබඳව මානව හිමිකම් කොමිෂන් සභාව දැනුවත් කර ඇති බව අඟවමින්, සභාපතිවරයා විසින් අදාළ විශ්‍රාමික ගුරු මව සහ ඇගේ පුත්‍රයා කාමරයක් තුළ සිරකර තබා මෙලෙස අඩන්තේට්ටම්වලට ලක්කර ඇතැයි හෙළිව ඇත.

ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා සභාපතිවරයාගේ ප්‍රචණ්ඩකාරී හැසිරීම හමුවේ දැඩි පීඩාවට පත් මව සහ පුතු විසින් තිහගොඩ පොලිස් ස්ථානය වෙත සිද්ධිය පිළිබඳව පැමිණිලි කර ඇති අතර, ඒ ඔස්සේ පරීක්ෂණ ඇරඹූ පොලිස් කණ්ඩායමක් ඊයේ (22) සභාපතිවරයා අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට පියවර ගත්තේය.

Chairman of Local Council Arrested Following Assault on Retired Teacher and Son

The chairman of the Kirinda-Puhulwella Pradeshiya Sabha, operating under the National People’s Power, has been arrested by Tihagoda Police in connection with an incident of physical and psychological abuse against a retired teacher and her engineer son, following a dispute related to illegal construction.

After being presented to the Matara Magistrate's Court along with other suspects, the chairman was granted bail on the condition of a surety bond by the magistrate.

The altercation emerged from an incident involving the unauthorized erection of a wall along the Wadigawattha road in Kirinda.

According to reports, the chairman had imprisoned the retired teacher and her son in a room, claiming they were being held for discussions regarding the illegal construction and had also informed the Human Rights Commission about the matter.

The distressed mother and son approached the Tihagoda Police Station to lodge a complaint about the chairman's aggressive behavior, prompting police to initiate an investigation that ultimately led to the chairman's arrest yesterday.
